The Documentry Or The Doctor's Advocate?
« on: July 11, 2007, 12:29:25 AM »
Personally I don't like The Documentary. I only like a few songs on it. Westside Story is the only song i play the CD to hear again really. While Doctors Advocate I can listen to the whole thing. Even though it is claimed that The Documentary bought back West coast Hip Hop... I think The Doctors Advocate has a more West coast feel to it.

Definately The Doctor's Advocate. I can't really listen to anything from The Documentary anymore & yeah, The Doctor's Advocate has more of a west coast feel to it.

Yeah i wasn't to happy with the production on The Documentry. Even though Dr Dre was involved. tracks like Hate It Or Love It, How We Do, Put You On The Game I find pretty annoying now. And Even though Westside Story is my favorite track on the album, I don't like 50 on Westside Story (Id rather the Snoop version).

For me the production was good on The Documentary but what I hate about that CD is that the sounds are all over the place, it's like you got a west coast beat, then a east coast one & then a commercial one etc. As for Westside Story, I found that track pretty boring after some time. The beat is average & yeah, they should have kept Snoop on the album version. The song is about the west coast so I find it funny that 50 is on it. Although I do feel that Snoop couldl've done a better job. Also the guest features are so-so.

Its hard to compare both because they are so diffrent i think westcoast wise the doctors advocate has that west coast feel but as far as both coasts i think the documentary had a better sound both Cd's are classics but i think the doctors advocate has more of an edge then the documentary but the production on documentary was hot too

In my opinion def the doctors advocate, the beats are just as dope as documentarys if not better (I'm bias towards west coast beats)
Though I think the main thing that makes the Doctors advocate better is THE GAME, his rapping and song writing skills have jus improved outta sight in my opinon, who agrees wit me bout that?

also does anyone have a copy of westside story the version wit snoop on it? I'd love to hear that
I guess the put 50 on the final version cause they thought his name would sell more singles than snoops

its the same song... just Snoop doing exactly what 50 does...

does anyone have the mix with both 50 and Snoop doing the chorus? and Daz doing a verse, i think it was from the DPG Recordz website...

I don't know...I disagree about the production on The Documentary..I thought it made the album. On Doctors Advocate Game grew lyrically but the production wasn't as on point imo. I would give The Documentary a 4.25 rating and Doctors Advocate a 4, two very solid albums though, which is more than most can say these days.

Wow....Interesting how up to this point, those that chose to post an opinion give Devil's Advocate an 8-3 (The Documentary for me) edge but the overall vote  favors The Documentary at 55% to 48 %...... Also interesting how the Documentary will outsell the Advocate 2 to 1.....Maybe that helps to explain one reason why the West struggles with sales because most WC rappers including Game with Advocate, make WC albums instead of looking at the big picture. I remember when singles from the Documentary were first released (Higher, How we Do, West Side Story) and how everyone was raving how Game and Dre were bringing the WC back....Damn.

Documentary definately, cos DA lacked replay value and that killer tune if u kno wot i mean, i.e hate it or love it/ dreams/ Like father like son. But the beats were better on the DA but the vibe of the Doc is gr8......
