he talked shit because at the time q-tip and all these other rappers such as common were badmouthing the west for violent content. That's also why cube got into it with common.

Well 2pac said in one interview that Q-Tip was dissing west coast rap on underground mixtapes in New York so maybe it also has something to do with that but yeah the Native Tounges especially De La Soul had some problems with gangsta rap back then.
