and i agree with hellrazor to some extent, it's kinda absurd to ask this question...here anyways cuz it's rap bias...but anyway you look around it they both had the same effect on music...and when 2pac died yes a whole genre of rap halted too....gangsta rap died with pac...grung died with kurt, but both have made semi come backs in recent years

i  am open minded and have listened to a lot of rock, but most of just isnt my stuff, there might be a song here or there that i like, but i dont like most of it. now this might have not been directed at me but i just wanted to tell you this.

more than half of rap is just boasting about what material objects they got, or how much skill they got and how the other mc is whack or about slanging keys of coke and pistol whipping a hooker while smoking a blungt and keeping it "gangsta" it's rare that ther'll be a rapper about  real life emotions



half of rock is about emotion and real life, ya know what i'm saying, rock is more artsy cuz when a rock dud writes a song most of the time it's dealing with inner strife and has a message behind it....most rap ain't like that

i'm a rap fan to the core, i grew up with it, i'm in the business...

but my favorite band EVER is Pearl Jam..."Jeremy" and "Black" are two of the five best songs i have ever heard in terms of meaning...

Kurt's death affected the Seattle scene. Pac's affected the whole hip-hop scene. Yet Kurt's more or less destroyed the Seattle scene, Pac's just disorganized the hip-hop one.

You can't compare, in many ways...But they, to my mind, are both tragic incidents that have affected me deeply.

And to the guy who said about no pride in suicide(badumbumbah!)...He had the heart to remove himself from other people's lives and no longer inflict himself on them.  He's no hero, but he felt it the best thing for him. Don't call him selfish, cause then I'll point out that what Pac did was effective suicide.
