LOL. Well I'll say this....from about 2001-2004 or 2005, Crook was definitely the sickest thing we'd seen as far as verses, multis, punchlines, flow, delivery, and all that into one package. Most rappers who are lyrically and technically skilled don't have a vicious delivery to go with it, and can't rock any beat. So yeah, Crook was seen by some of us as the best the West had to offer. However....he hasn't dropped any albums, and even though he has some cool songs, most of his songs don't show how dope he is. So in that way, you could say he's overrated...but as far as skills go, it's still not many that you can really put up against him in any way.

And it's not just "So Cal" heads who are on him....he gets respect from people in NY who usually hate West Coast rappers....and it's people in the Bay, the ones not on the hyphy tip, who roll with him just as much as we do.

Yeah, I mean it is hard to translate talent into making a good album. Even with singers...most of the best singers never have the best albums. Sometimes, it's a case of who they are surrounded by. I feel that if Crook had ended up with Dre earlier, just as Snoop ended up with him, it could have been a wrap. Imagine Snoop without Dre...he would have been one of those dope cats who had a nice flow and voice, but wouldn't have had a Top 10 album in rap history at all. With Crook, it seems like he hasn't been in a dope camp since his DPG days.

So with that....sometimes, he comes off too lyrical and complex on every track...and when he tries to lessen it and come catchy, it just sounds too forced. When I hear him over beats like "Ballin" and "Pop, lock, and drop it"...it's like damn, he would have had a hard flow on it, but I couldn't see him making the same type of success if he had those as singles with his own hooks and all that.

Crooked I aint overrated....no one here claims he's the GOAT or anything, all people say is that he's the illest on the mic right now in the west, and imo there's no denying that. I really hope is didnt waste his peak years as a lyricist and mc doing mixtapes and never dropping an album. All rappers and artists eventually lose their luster, its the nature of the beast, you have a creative peak that doesnt last. Lets hope Crooked is able to at least drop 2 albums while still at the top of his game.

Imagine if Cube from 90-94 was droppping songs, and appearing on other albums but never got to release anything...and waited til '95 to drop his 1st album. Ity'd still be dope but it'd be a shame to see a lyrical peak like that wasted away..i just hope this doesnt happen with Crook.
