Elton Brand could be done for the year
« on: August 03, 2007, 06:23:04 PM »
Clippers forward Elton Brand ruptured his left Achilles' tendon on Friday during his daily workout.

Brand will undergo surgery but plans for the operation have not been finalized yet, the Clippers said. This is absolutely devastating news for the Clippers. Less than a year removed from Shaun Livingston's gruesome knee injury comes this news for Brand. This is a major injury and it's safe to say his entire season is in jeopardy. Dan Dickau of the Knicks ruptured his Achilles in Dec. of 2005, had surgery, and then didn't start working out again until July of 2006. The good news is that in 1992 Dominique Wilkins came back from a similar injury the following year and had one of his better seasons. While it didn't make a lot of sense at the time, the Clippers are going to be glad they drafted Al Thornton, who could start in Brand's place. Tim Thomas is another option for the Clips if Brand is going to be out for as long as we suspect. Aug. 3 - 7:53 pm et

Yeah for real, the one good move they've made in years was trading Chandler for Brand... he actually makes Clippers basketball entertaining.

The fact that he has such a horrible injury, in the offseason nonetheless is super-fucked-up.

I can honestly say that as a Laker fan, I would root for Brand when he wasn't playing the Lakers.

Hey on the bright side, odds are next year the Clips may get a top 5 pick (not that they even know how to draft, but that's another thread...)

Brand is one of the good guys in the NBA. I hate hearing stuff like this. I hope he makes a full recovery but it will be tough. Achilles tears are tough to come back from.
Being a LAKER is a privilige. Unfortunately some "Lakers" have forgotten that.
