Some interesting NBA stats

Juwan Howard has scored the 100th most points in NBA history.

Only 23 players in NBA history have played more than 1192 games, which is how many games AC Green played in a row.

Bo Outlaw has the second highest career FG% among active players.

Ray Allen needs 641 three pointers to break Reggie Miller's all-time record. Reggie Miller made 2560 in his career and no one else has ever made 2000. Eddie Jones is second among active players with 1512.

Antoine Walker is 6th all-time in 3 point attempts and 10th in makes. Speaking of bad players who shoot too much, Nick Van Exel is 6th and 4th respectively.

On the other hand, Steve Nash is 55th all-time in attempts but 35th all-time in makes. Not surprisingly, he's #1 in the NBA in 3pt% for active players. Ben Gordon is #2. #1 all-time is Steve Kerr.

Moses Malone had 6731 Offensive rebounds in his career. Second most since this statistic started being recorded in 1973 is Robert Parish with 4598. Kevin Willis is the active leader with 4132.

Those rebounding stats from back in the day are funny. Tim Duncan is the leader in rebounds per game among active players but he's 18th all-time. In fact, the only player who has played in recent decades ahead of Duncan is Dennis Rodman at #13. The fact that he's #13 on the all-time list really takes away from the fact that he's the most brilliant rebounder of the last few generations of NBA players.

Believe it or not, Steve Nash is only #28 on the career assists list, just ahead of Avery Johnson and Nick Van Exel; those 3 were teammates together in Dallas. Looking at Nash's career averages of 14.0 points and 7.6 assists per game, you have to think people in 30 years looking at that won't realize how good he was in his prime. That makes me wonder if there's anyone like that from 30 years ago that we don't appreciate.

By the way, the top 3 active players in assists are Gary Payton, Jason Kidd (who will probably leapfrog Payton this year; he's only 275 behind), and Stephon Marbury.

Allen Iverson is the #1 active player in points per game, which I'm sure pretty much anyone could have guessed. What surprises me is he's third all-time. As for active players, Shaq is #2, Kobe is #3, Carter is #4, Pierce is #5, and Arenas is #6, and rounds out the top 20 all-time. Only 10 players have averaged 25 points or more for their entire career; Kobe, Kareem, Bird and Maravich all averaged less than 25 points believe it or not, although with Kobe at 24.61, that will change soon.

Shaq, Payton and Iverson are the only active players with 20,000 points (Shaq is the only one with 25,000). Three others have 19,000 or more: Cliff Robinson (4th), Kobe Bryant (5th) and Kevin Garnett (6th).

Cliff Robinson only needs 403 points to get there but he only averaged 4.1 points per game off the bench last season, and he turns 41 in December. It'll be interesting to see if he gets there or if he falls just short like John Stockton (19,711 points).

Gary Payton is the active leader in steals with 2445 (third all time); Jason Kidd is second with 1902, and Allen Iverson is 3rd with 1716, and he's 1st in steals/game with 2.3, which is 6th all-time.

Cool...Most of those aren't really that surprising though.
