Clippers find Knight to share point

The Clippers' search for a point guard to share the load with Sam Cassell has apparently landed Brevin Knight.

Knight, who has played for seven teams in a 10-year NBA career, has agreed to a two-year, $4 million contract, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.

Knight, 31, must pass a physical before the deal can become official.

A 5-foot-10 former Stanford star, Knight has a point guard's mentality. He has averaged 6.8 assists and 8.3 points in his career, with two 20-assist games.

He played for Charlotte last season, averaging 9.1 points and 6.6 assists in 28.3 minutes per game. The previous season he averaged 12.6 points, 8.8 assists (third in the league) and 2.3 steals (second).

With Shaun Livingston sidelined for perhaps the whole season with a knee injury and Cassell 38 years old, the Clippers had taken a shot at Steve Francis (he signed with Houston) and pursued other guards before settling on Knight.

Looks like they'll really have to grind if they wanna make playoffs...Considering the injury to Brand, this looks like a team that finishes no higher than 10th in the west. Brevin Knight is nice, but his ideal role should be back-up point guard...PeACe
