Gallas IMO was a poor choice to be captain last season and he should have been stripped of the captaincy after his actions last season against Birmingham

Cesc to captain Arsenal for the remainder of his final season there?

^^ True.
Funny situation, but there's an unwritten rule saying that you can't disturb the keeper with the ball in possession, unless he puts it on the ground or let it bounce.

Another win for Celtic, 11 in a row now.

Still 4 points clear at the top.

Written too, it seems, thanks to your poor thread on VG..  :P

Offences committed against goalkeepers

* It is an offence for a player to prevent a goalkeeper from releasing the ball from his hands
* A player must be penalised for playing in a dangerous manner if he kicks or attempts to kick the ball when the goalkeeper is in the process of releasing it
* It is an offence to restrict the movement of the goalkeeper

"The releasing of the ball from his hands and the kicking of the ball is considered to be a single action."

yup, george best did the same thing to gordon banks back in the day and it didnt count.

Plenty of people have done it, Illunga tried it for West Ham a few weeks back.

I have many questions on the matter:

  *  How far is the keeper allowed to actually toss the ball in the air before it is considered to be an error?
  *  What would happen if for example when the keeper tosses the ball someone gets his body between the keeper and the ball? Is that illegal?
  *  And if that is illegal then I go back to my first question...how far can he toss the ball in the air and still seen to be in the "action".

I think there is gonna be a goal like this soon which will stretch the boundaries and have people asking questions.

Maybe there should be some kind of distance players must keep from the goalkeeper during kickouts (unless the keeper is trying to take a quick one of couse)

Thoughts?
