Mourinho quits chelsea
« on: September 20, 2007, 12:13:49 AM »
The Chelsea football club manager Jose Mourinho was on Wednesday night reported to have quit the club.

The Portuguese coach, 44, was said to have sent text messages to five senior players to say he was leaving Stamford Bridge after Chelsea’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Rosenborg in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Mourinho caught Chelsea's hierarchy by surprise after the premiere of the club's documentary 'Blue Revolution' by demanding talks at Stamford Bridge over his future. Those talks continued last night, but his players were left in no doubt that Tuesday night’s match was his last in charge.

Mourinho is understood to have sent text messages to five players at 6pm last night and by midnight the first-team squad were aware that he had left.

Mourinho led the club to two Barclays Premier League titles after joining the club in June 2004 but their disastrous start to the new season had taken its toll on him.

The Chelsea manager is expected to report to the training ground at Cobham on Thursday to say goodbye to the players who won every domestic trophy during his time in England.

Juande Ramos, touted as a possible successor to Martin Jol at Tottenham, is among the coaches linked with his job.

Ramos watched his Seville side lose 3-0 to Arsenal in the Champions League last night but may be tempted by an offer from the Blues.

Mourinho still had three years left on a contract, worth £6.5m a year, but Roman Abramovich, the club's billionaire owner, is prepared pay a huge slice of that in order to end their relationship.

At the time he signed the deal, Mourinho said: ``My heart is with Chelsea and the fantastic group of players that I have but the vision of the owner and the board for the future of Chelsea is also one I want to be a part of.

``I cannot imagine another situation or another club where I could be happier. I am totally behind this project.''

But Chelsea's board have become increasingly unhappy after the team's poor start to the season. Chelsea are currently fifth in the Premier League, two points behind leaders Arsenal after six games.

Mourinho's departure comes just days before they face rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford. Steve Clarke, his assistant, of Avram Grant, director of football, are set to take charge of team affairs on Sunday.

This is great. I wish only the worst to him and his former team.
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

"chin up mourinho"

so the one with special needs, sorry the special one has gone.

To be honest i cant believe that abramovic was stupid enough to get rid of him, yes he was arrogant, and a bad winner and loser but he is a very good manager and its chelsea's loss.

Though mourinho should have left when abramovic forced schevchenko on chelsea. This has been coming for  a while, even when chelsea won the league for the second time mourinho was complaining of feeling unloved and threatening to leave.

Im glad he has gone but im sure he will be back in english football in the future, apparently he is getting a 25 mil payoff.

This news shocked me this morning. I knew sumfin woz goin on between them, but dint expect it so soon.

I think they will live 2 regret this decision as Mourinho is by far the best manager they have ever had.

Big loss 2 the premiership as well. I wonder where he will manage nxt?
I will believe Detox when I hear a single for it and have the album in my hands.
but what if you loose your hands before Detox drops?

^ohhhhhh!!

lol, my friends have sent me so many jokes about them...

New Renault people carrier has been designed, so spacious, luxurious and comfortable you cant even notice the kids are in the back. They've called it the Renault McCann.

bit harsh but gave me a chuckle.
