I must admit, 50 made a great point about Lil Wayne

When he said "Lil Wayne is talented. Those songs he hops on he makes them hit records...but they're not HIS songs".

Right now Lil Wayne has an huge buzz! He's shown an enormous amount of growth in his lyrics. He's stealing the show on every mixtape he's on. And he's the new go to guy when you need a hit record. BUT! Now it's time for him to do it on his own album. I've made it clear that I'm not a fan of the record sales = talent theory that G-Unit has brainwashed fans with, but Lil Wayne needs to sell a significant amount of records on "The Carter 3" if he wants to show everyone that he's for real. Otherwise, he's going to have that nasty "mixtape artist" stamp placed on his resume (ie: Lloyd Banks, Jadakiss).

yeah hes got a point. weezy usually makes the song a hit, but theyre not his.

he was able to make The Carter 2 solid as fuck. one of my favorite hip hop cds thus far in this decade. Currently, in the field of ACTIVE rappers, hes one of the best easily. But truth be told... The Carter 2, despite being a fucking great and very consistent album... its definitely lacking a single. You cant really play any those tracks heavy on the radio or club. but shit, dont matter to me...i'm still pickin up The Carter 3, single or not.

He's already proved himself imo, sure some of his songs are shit but he's pretty consistent at putting out good albums

none of those were big singles though. Like yeah they definitely got radioplay and videos... but for Weezy's caliber of rappin and where he's at in this point of time and position in the industry, he's gotta have something like TI "what you know".. but he hasnt achieved that yet.

but like i said, he has the potential. hopefully we hear some tracks from him and Mannie...

Ummm no not really, i cant really agree with that, hes not one of ur top choices to go and ask if u wanna make a hit record, what hits has he made? A few not alot, most of his hits dont get alot of radio play cause there not really mainstream, at least they dont get alot of plays down here in Vancouver. If u wanna make a hit record TODAY ur top choices would be Akon, T-Pain and Timbo!!!

Lol man obviously the biggest hook singers and one of the biggest producers ever would be your top choices. But look at how many artist that called him for their singles in the past few years: Avant, Ja Rule, Bobby Valentino, Lloyd, Playaz Circle, Brisco, Trina, Fat Joe, DJ Khaled, Fabolous, Chris Brown, Destiny's Child, etc etc etc

You don't get calls from that many artist if you're not a top dog.
