SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS RAP
Are any of yall feeling socially conscious rap. I dunno..this may sound lame but like the cussing and the rhymes about violence, drugs, and sexually escapades are kind of what endeared me to rap in the first place. I mean..Im not saying there has to be cussing and mature subject manner for a song to be good, but I just dont think its rap unless its controversial or at the very least adult orientated.

There is a difference between Gangsta Rap, Party Rap and Socially Conscious Rap Hittman. Gangsta Rap to me is Daz, Snoop, Jayo Felony, Party Rap, Bad Boy Records lives off of it, and then Socially Conscious are rappers like Mos Def, Talib Kweli and Tupac. These three always talk(ed) about world issues and what they feel about them. I feel this type of rap, although Pac could be put into all three of the aspects of Rap I looked at. I know there's more but I just put a couple of basic types of the music.

MC's like GZA, Talib Kweli, Pac [most of the time], Killah Priest, Bizzy Bone [98' and later], Remedy, Guru, and Outkast are socially conscience rappers. All of them, along with several others, have something deep and important to say in most of their songs, rather than just talking about murder or material things.

True, but he wasn't just a gangsta rapper, he did socially conscious rap too. "Brendas Got a Baby", "Part Time Mutha" and "Changes" had nothing to do with gangsta rap. They were all about social issues.

I like Socially Conscious Rap the best cause it is deep and I feel it a lot especially some of Pac's songs that he did in that style also a lot of other rappers but I like music more that style for some reason. Don't ask why I just do.

Yeah, thats kinda why I wish I had "This Life I live" insread of "Bitches" as the bonus song on my Space Boogie CD. This Life I live is much more deeper. I love that shit.
