Can the Raiders really win with Culpepper
« on: October 01, 2007, 09:41:58 AM »
Looks like the Raiders fans got their wish, Culpepper is starting, and they won their second game after Culpepper took over last week. Culpepper had as many TDs yesterday as McCown has INTs. Forget that McCown has more passing yards, Culpepper has no INTs at all this year. As I said, McCown may know the O, but Culpepper wins, plan and simple.

No doubt. The running game is vastly improved and so is the O-Line so that is opening up the play action and the passing game in general. I am thinking Lamont Jordan is going to be out for a LONG time but aren't we getting Dominic Rhodes back soon? If so, team him up with Fargas and if we can continue to run the ball like we have, I liked our chance. Dante does give us a fighting chance to win games, definitely.

oh man, of corse we can win with culpepper, the attitude is right in oakland. Culpepper blowing up for all those td's in miami was more than just a statement against the dolphins it was a statement that Culpepper can still play. while he might not be the pepp that he once was he's good enough to wield the raiders to a better record than last year, and actually look good doing it. remember that this raider team isn't that bad, we've been in games with McCown at the helm, and we could be talking about about the 3-1 or hell even the 4-0 raiders right now. the running game is strong and the d is still very good , alll things are looking up.

looks like the Raiders are coming into there own this year. Like i've stated since week 1 we got a good team and finally a good coaching. i tribute the running game to the vastly improved O-line. when u got a line blockin like they are i could prolly rush for 1,000 yards. the raiders have good momentum right now and are going into a STRUGGLING san diego. should be a good game
I've forgot more about music and sports than you will ever know!!!

I think that Oakland is an easy team to ignite. The fans are nuts, and that rubs on the fans. Yeah Oakland has been god awful the last 3-4 years, but it looks like things are looking up. And I think Culpepper doing what he does makes is a bonus. Culpepper just wins, who cares if he only threw for 75 yards. Culpepper knows winning, and McCown may run the system better, but is not a proven winner. I think Culpepper is the final piece needed. I say sign Culpepper for another year, build the team to run around Culpepper/Russell and trade McCown for some more lineman.

I was not sold on just moving the linemen around, but it has worked wonders for the Raiders. I was proven wrong, and I cannot be happier. The O-Line is much, much improved, and Culpepper I think is that final piece that can possibly help the Raiders win the weakest AFC West I have ever seen. Part of being able to win the AFC West goes to Norv Turner, his still on the payroll you know, just like McHale is to the Celtics.

pepp is probably the best teacher for Ja, i can EASILY see Jamarcus being a Daunte Culpepper via minnesota vikings 2003/4 status when he's unleashed.

I agree. Culpepper has many attributes that Russell has, and I think it would be better for the O and Russell if Culpepper has the ball right now. It allows the O to adjust to that style of play, and then once Culpepper gets that system ready... unleash JaMonster. On a side note, it's reported that the coaches are impressed with Russell and he might get playing time by Thanksgiving.

that's retarded though...unless Culpepper struggles badly why disrupt the offense? how can an offense or a qb play to the best of their ability with that kind of uncertainty every week. go with whoever gives you the best chance to win and stick with it.

I don't think they mean starts, I think they mean like in blow out games, get the final one or two drives is what I understood.
