Browns running style, similar to Emmitt's was dependant on good blocking. Of course, Brown>>>>>>>>Emmitt. But Barry, game in and game out would make it happen all on his own. This myth always bothered me. People act like Barry could run 100 yard games with a bunch of high school kids playing o-line. Detroit was a pretty decent team some years and pretty close to decent other years. They lost close games in their losing years. And they were a running team. Barry had seasons of over 300 carries 7 times. Brown had 1 season over 300 carries and it was 305 carries. Barry also had probowl offensive lineman Lomas Brown and Kevin Glover for most of his career at Detroit. Yeah Milt Plum and Frank Ryan were better QBs than what Detroit had. No argument there. Cleveland was a better team but Jim Brown ran like a monster and broke off tackles like a mad man. He wasn't some hole runner that fell apart after that. Barry used his quick steps to move away from the tackle, Brown used his power to break through and shake them. Barry was amazing no doubt. I'd jusr rather have Brown in the end.
