top producers-(current,upcoming,etc)-besides dre

this is a post i've been wanting to do for a long time. as you know i think dre is the greatest hip hop producer of all time and one of the best in the histoty of music. but in the world of rap there is a number of great producers. here is my favorites and ones i admire(i ranked them). again this is my opinion. i know i forgot some great producers but i think i got most of them.
upcoming prodcuers -
1)fred wreck
2)hi-tek
3)mel-man
4)rockwilder
5)scott storch
6)meech wells
7)mos def
8)ric-rok
fred wreck is without a doubt the best new producer we've seen come out since quik. his style of copying dre's "2001" style is a good thing cause it focuses on live instruments and creativity.fred will eventually broaden his sound. fred plays a lot of instruments and uses an eclectic mix of sounds and music. his upcoming solo album should show the world his unlimited potential and hopefully blow him up. Hi-Tek started slow but has really picked it up. he mixes live instruments with samples and soul. and the lyrics of him and his associates are refreshing. mel-man has been around but still hasn't showed the world what he has. several upcoming projects should give him that chance. wait til you hear what hes been doin. damn!
rocwilder is a dope upcoming producer. seems to be leaning towards pop and established artists too much. unsure about future, but a major talent. scott storch is from the roots/aftermath camp and is doin more and more production. meech wells is getting better and better all the time. mos def is along the lines of hi-tek and the black conscious and positivity movement in rap. he also plays a lot of instruments and is going into rock and altenative stuff. his co producers are dope too. ric-rok has some promise.
current producers - after dre
1)dj quik
2)premo
3)warren g
4)rza
5)outkast production team
6)eric sermon
7)timbaland
8)pete rock
9)mike dean
10)daz
11)battlecat
12)wyclef
13)soopafly
14)cold 187
15)sam sneed
16)swizz beats
17)mannie fresh
18)budda
19)neptunes
20)puffy
i'll post my comments on these 20 on my response

sorry about the faces. not sure why they showed up.
right now quik is second to dre as a producer, with upcomers like fred wreck on his tail. quik has a unique and musical style which i love. more than any producer quik has equaled and surpassed dre on some of his productions. not consistent or innovative enough to hang with dre, but his 5 solo albums are testaments to quik's monster talent. quik and everyone i talk about are good for dre because they put the pressure on him. dre knows if he gets too lazy others may catch up. this pushes dre to innovate and stay a step ahead of everyone else. premo is a legend who continues to amaze. like quik he has perfected his particular style. his track record is amazing. warren g is a personal favorite. mixes samples and live instruments beautifully. now that he's on universal he's prepping what should be a really DOPE upcoming album. when it comes to laidback g-funk warren is the king. rza is another huge talent who helped shape the rejuvination of the east coast. outkast and their producers are really cool, really eclectic, really fresh and clean. eric sermon has been doing it for years and is really back into the groove. "music" with marvin gaye IS the single of the year. timbaland is not a personal favoriite but his track record and talent must be respected. his beat are too computer driven for me, but he still amazes me every now and then. pete rock has slowed down a bit but is still the master of the sample/jazz fusion. mike dean is a white boy who can bring the funk. his productions for rap-a-lot records were great and resulted in millions of sales for the geto boys, scarface, big mike, etc. i've always liked daz as a producer. his strange behavior hurts him. but with mike dean by his side his recent productions are top notch. like daz battlecat is a dre disciple and is putting out a lot of bangin tracks with the "2001"style influence. kinda sounds the same sometimes but still dope and musical. wyclef is raps top guitar player and with jerry wonder by his side they make some dope tracks. soopafly is usually dope and was the brunt of death row delay and release tactics. cold 187 is a dope producer. a little inconsistent but makes some innovative records. wasting his talents at death row remixing catalogue of old dr songs takes away his focus. is suge's new slave producer. his prodcution on tupacs latest may have been a reason for selling less than 2 million copies(was a double album so went triple). could help or kill crooked i. sam sneed was another guy who was abused by suge. they wouldn't release his album or him from his contract. brain tumor slowed him down. thankfully he survived and trying to get back to old form. budda was on track with aftermath but left and fell off the map. glove is another former ruthless and aftermath producer who is very dope and is back producing some hot joints after disappearing for a while. not a fan of swiss beats, mannie fresh or neptunes but i had to respect their talents. puffy would have been much higher up 5 years ago. now his focus on other ventures, stupid use of samples and jacking people's entire beats caused his decline. now he's copying dre and failing. it just shows you how hard it is to do what dre does.

thanks everyone for mentioning some people i forgot. how could i forget muggs and organized noise
. thanks braindead. g2, i did put rik-roc on my upcoming producer list. the stupid face may have caused you to miss him. i wanted to mention some old school rap producers who set trends and helped make rap what it is today.
rick rubin - started def jam and may be the most important producer in raps early stages. he's moved on to rock now after he unfairly got dissed by some artists and russell simmons.
grandmaster flash, whodini, and many others i cant take the time to name.
have to mention the legendary bomb squad. unbelievable. bobcat has produced for ll cool j, mc ren and pac. prodej'je from the south central cartel was g funk specialists in the mid 90's.

keep mentioning the ones i missed!! dj uneek - good catch. ant banks? forgot him. eric b? forgot him
mc eiht /dj slip? forgot them
some more lists-
top 5 producers of all time - all music
no particular order -Dr. Dre, sam cook, quincy jones, sam phillips, phil spector.
some of the best current non-rap producers
teddy riley, moby, rick rubin, bob rock, steve lillywhite, brendon o'brien, glen ballard.
tweeners - jimmy jam, terry lewis /babyface. both of these producers set trends and changed current black music. got stuck in same style and have fallen way off.
one producer i will never put on my list - Rodney Jerkins. only works for stars where he is guaranteed big bucks. takes no chances and doesn't care about anyone but himself. never changes and is always looking for the easy jobs with no risks and guaranteed money.
i know i missed others. sorry if i left yours off the list. keep bringing up producers you like up so others can get turned on to them. peace.
