Dr. Dre's Muscians

After going through liner notes of about 3 albums, I've compiled a list of Dre's muscians that he uses on all his songs since "Dr. Dre 2001."


Bass:  Mike Elizondo - Co-Produced "Hennessey & Buddah", "True Lies" & "Lay Low" with Dre.  Dre's only bass player.

Guitar:  Sean Cruse - Played guitar on the songs that had a guitar on "2001."

Keyboards:  Scott Storch - Been Dre's #1 keyboard player since "2001."  Produced 3 songs on "Tha last Meal."  Will produce tracks on Mob Deep's upcoming LP.

Keyboards:  Camara Kambon  - Dre said he's on of his best musicans, played keys on almost all of "2001."

Keyboards:  Tommy Coster Jr - Pretty knew to the staff, hooked up the notes for "The Real Slim Shady."

Referring back to the article Infinite hooked up with the picture of all these cats, who's who??  I'm almost 100% sure Scott Storch is the guy with dark hair & glasses because XXL had an article on him about a year back.  Next I think the guy with light brown hair is Camara Kambon, and finally Mike Elizono is the chubby short dude.  Sound right?  Anyway, just felt like makin a post out of this shit.

That's why they call him a producer ,a producer uses his ears...A composer too , but he creates his shit alone.

actually any and almost every producer has musicians like that, that's why daz has mike dean , dj quik has this one chick from the Los Angeles symphany orchestra some east coast producers will use local jazz talents same as pete rock, timbalnd too he'll try it out but if he can't make it do what he wants he'll seek out people who can do it and tell them what to do, all producers do that that's what rock producers do, they have  a vision of how they want the album to sound and have...uh lets say metallica play it out but it's a lil different with rock acts because they co produce since it's THEIR album, but dre timbo , quik, alchemist anyone you wanna mention uses local talent to play instruments they're not as good at sure you can be uninspired and just make digital music from a keyboard but some people like the real deal instrument instead of the digitally programmed keyboard one, do any of y'all know HOW FUCKING HARD IT IS TO LEARN AN INSTRUMENT???

i played the alto sax for a while and it's pretty difficult i got use to it but it took me about a school year to kinda master, and that's when i was like 10 so it would probably take some one like timbo like 3 months to learn it and learn it professionally, i play the bass guitar and electric guitar which i'm still learning how to play i won't know how to play it officiently for at least a bit, but BUSY producers like dre, timbo, and what not don't have an extra six months or so to learn one instrument efficiently or a 16 piece set just so a lil 13 year old boy can run around on the internet saying he's a "Real Producer" c'mon people most of y'all don't know jack rabitt turd shit about producing, i took a course in school that teaches how to compose and produce music , i'm sorry but what manni fresh and swizz beats might put out appealing music and they might do all that by them selves but i kinda don't consider them real deal producers since they're only familiar with one type of machine....sorry y'all but i just had to regulate like mellowman would

Jake's on point y'all, Dre is a REAL producer.  If you read the articles submitted by Infinite you'd see that Dre's muscian's give him a lot of credit and that he has full direction.  When someone has input they will get credited like Elizondo did on "Tha Last Meal."

Style normally you're very on point when it comes to music but you're off point here
It's taken me about 7 years to get up to a very good standard on the clarinet, now when Dre wants a clarinet on his song he doesn't take 7 years to learn it, he hires someone
You use Daz as an example, yet Daz has Soopafly play the majority of his keys, Butch Small plays all his percussion

this is why people sample - that quote i dropped from pete rock in that post about songs that mention equipment sums his (and my) opinion on it.

replaying elements (interpolation) is a step up from sampling and helps create a better blend with the song plus u can remove elements (artificacts) that u may not want from the original (e.g. a beat or vocals)

some funk/soul artists used session musicians back in the day - why not pay a session musician now?

dre just keeps a stable group going because *it works for what he wants to do now* (tm)(c) - why break a winning formula?

remember he also uses Colin Wolfe  for keyboards and bass guitar and he did stuff with NWA right up to (and including) 2001
