Dr.Dre setles Napster lawsuit

Dr. Dre have settled long-standing legal disputes over alleged infringement of
their copyrighted music against online file-swapping service Napster. No
specific details about the settlement were immediately available, but it is
understood that the acts have agreed to make some of their music available on
Napster "once an acceptable model is in place that insures payment to artists
and publishers for the use of their works," according to a statement.

Heres more info on the situation:

Dr. Dre And Napster Reach Settlement
July 13, 8 p.m. ET, Launch

Legendary hip-hop producer Dr. Dre has reached a settlement with music file-sharing service Napster. Dr. Dre filed suit against Napster in April 2000, and as part of the settlement Dr. Dre agreed to make some of his material available on the service from time to time so long as Napster can ensure that artists and publishers will be paid for the use of their work. Napster, in turn, agreed to identify and block access to files that artists do not want users to share.
Hank Berry, interim CEO of Napster, elaborated on the settlement, "We now understand how important it is to Dr. Dre to control how his music is distributed and to be paid for the effort and talent that go into crafting his records. We're pleased to report that our current system addresses his concerns and regret that we were not more sensitive to his concerns in the past."

Dr. Dre added, " I work hard making music--that's how I earn a living. Now that Napster's agreed to respect that, I don't have any beef with them."

Dr. Dre is currently working on Detox, his follow-up to Dr. Dre 2001, as well as forthcoming albums from Aftermath Entertainment artists Truth Hurts and Rakim.

I'm glad that shit's settled.  Napster fucked up big time.  I only used it myself to find shit that wasn't out anymore.  Like Em's first album.  What fucked it up was people getting whole albums a Downloading them instead of actually buying their work.  Everyone works so they can get paid.  I guess Napster was fucking with the artist's money too much.
