Above The Law Speaks On Death Row Signing

Above The Law, one of the pioneering West Coast Hip-Hop groups to come out of Eazy E's Ruthless Records fold, have announced that they are officially signed to Suge Knight's Death Row imprint. Above The Law group members Big Hutch aka Cold 187um, KM.G AKA Vin Loco and DJ K-oss, severed their ties with Tommy Boy in 1998, due to lack of promotion, marketing and "basic enthusiasm."
After breaking from Tommy Boy, the group formed West World records and released Big Hutch's debut solo album Executive Decisions and Above The Law’s seventh album "Forever-Rich Thugs." The group was approached by several major labels (including their former label Ruthless Records) about a new record deal, but according to group leader Big Hutch, "instead of taking two steps forward these deals would have had us going three, four steps back."
According to Big Hutch, the group hadn't been given the creative control and financial backing since the death of Eazy E. "Ruthless owed us a lot of money and still do. We tried to renegotiate a deal with Ruthless and Ruthless fronted on us. So Enter CEO of Death Row Records, Suge Knight, who is looking to reestablish Death Row Records as a leading powerhouse in Rap. Suge made an offer that the group couldn’t refuse. "Suge saw the light," Hutch continued. "A lot of people don't realize that Suge used to manage Above The Law when we were on Ruthless in the early days when he managed us and D.O.C. I love Ruthless and what we built, but you gotta move on. She (Tamika Wright) sold the label anyway, so it is what it is."
Having full creative control, distribution promotion and marketing, the group feels all is in place for them. "Suge knows how our whole collective operates," said Big Hutch. "We see eye-to-eye on how we want Above The Law to be presented to the streets, the people, and the industry. He’s giving us the artistic freedom we haven’t had in years."
Hutch has also announced that he has formed an production team for Death Row Records. Big Hutch and Darren Vegas have formed The Executioners. Big Hutch over saw the production of a handful of songs on the new Dogg Pound 2002, which is slated for a July 31st release.
"We gonna peel some caps back for real, cause Suge is letting us do our thing," Hutch said. "We are really getting focused with this Death Row Record cause you know we wanna come out punishing fools. Certain fools we think out there need punishment."
I respect these cats...but damn.....do they really think they can steal bring it with all the bull shit suge is still doing?
Peace Hambone.

Yeah, I doubt anything they do now will really make it BIG, probably wont get much radio play or their videos wont be shown on MTV or BET....
But I've been down with ATL for a while.... and I plan on backin' anything they drop....
I just hope their shit doesn't have TOO MUCH, Snoop/DPG/Dr Dre disses on it.... they shouldn't let Suge's beef get involved with THEIR music.... or else they're gonna end up lookin' like Suge's lil bitches.... and they're too big for that in my eyez...
I mean, they're considered WEST COAST LEGENDS to some people (including myself)...... and hatin' over some ignorant shit like that will actually be what's takin' them 2 steps back.

dont count out ATL just yet, i know theyll come with something heated as always. i got all seven of their albums plus the hutch solo, they never come wack and unlike nearly everyone else in the game they get better all the time.
and I really doubt they'll allow theirselves to get caught up in Suge's bullshit. They way too OG for that nonsense.

The Way I See It, ATL Probably Couldn't Even Get A Decent Contract Anywhere (Remember, Daz Couldn't!)
So, Why not Sign With Deathrow? Suge Needs Soembody Big, and He Probably Offered Them A Great Deal. I See Nothing Negative About This.
Look At Hutch. He Wasn't Doing ANYTHING Before. Now, He's Produced A Major Part of A Triple Platinum Album, Plus Put In Work On Two Other Releases, All In The Last Year. He's Probably Already Made Half A Million Dollars Off Deathrow, For 20 Songs (That's What, A Month's Worth Of Work?)
Hutch Is Making Out Great, Maybe ATL Will Too.

I think anybody.......even a no name half ass good producer.....that remixed..or just worked on Tupacs Songs....or some of deathrow releases.......could of done the same thing...I have the Up most respect for ATL.......but.....no matter what...when tupac drops something new...it is going to sell.....even if Hutch didnt touch it.......
I wish him luck..and i hope it isnt diss songs......towards dre and snoop.........cause it be funny...i read somewhere also..that kokane...is going to be on their album...............hmmm......

All I'm Saying Is,Whatever Producer They GotTo Do It Would Have Sold, But It Was A Great Opportunity For Hutch, So Deathrow Has Treated Him Great.

Uncle Sam's Curse gots alot of my favorite ATL songs...
"Black Superman"
"Kalifornia"
"Concrete Jungle"
"Everything Will Be Alright"
"Who Ryde"
"Set Free"
"The G In Me"
I know there's more.... but these are just some of my favorites.... Kokane is on alot of this cd which is coo' too....
I used to have it... I let tha homie get it though and he fucked it up so I lost my copy too.... and what's really messed up is that you hardly ever find this shit at tha store.... I think I'ma go to tha wherehouse and pay tha extra 5 bucks for them to order it for me.

P.S. I Dunno If Yall CAught It, But I Reported Last Week That Kokane's All Over The New ATL, What Do Yall Think Of That? I Think It's Cool,They Work Good Together. It's Also A Bridge Between Doggystyle/Aftermath/Deathrow, Which Is Good, I Think.
