cant some of you see the real picture here? Crooked I has no buzz to release an album yet. Besides this forum and a few websites and real hiphop heads, there is nothing buzzing around him for him to drop an album. If he drops album this year, it will flop due to the current state of westcoast support in the industry.

then he should forget about sales and do what Dj muggs and Sick Jacken did.  And just release a dope album and forget about becoming the next 50 cent. 

Just release dope music.  The Dj muggs and Sick Jacken album came out and its been getting great reviews.

I really wish Crooked I would read your post. And that idea about releasing an album full of dope songs without worrying about the sales is exactly what I've been saying for years. Crooked I would earn a lot of respect for doing that.

Crooked I was on the cover of the last issue of XXL. He's also featured in a French magazine (article in my sign). This magazine is also looking for an interview with him. I sometimes speak with someone whos doing album reviews for this magazine and he keeps on tellin me "what up? have you heard this weeks hip hop weekly?" or "when is he gonna release the album?" The one who wrote the Crooked I article is their chief editor and every issue of the mag sells about 50 000 copies in the newstands and its also a good seller digitally. They also put NWA in their top singles of the moment in the mag. I got a lot of friends out here in France who know about Crooked I since the Death Row days too... Trust me the buzz is big. The only problem is that he still hasn't released an album, thats all. Im not sayin that hes gonna blow up like a 50 Cent or whatever and that every radio will play his music but he could sell a good amount copies im sure of that.

It's obvious what Crooked I's problem is. He living some wild fantasy that he will blow up like crazy and go multiplat. When the biggest rap stars like Kanye, 50 and Jay are having a hard time going 2x plat and even Justin with all his hits, is barely at 3x plat, that is completley unrealistic.

Crooked I should do what Jim Jones did. Release album on Koch, hope for one of the singles to pick up (NWA could have done that) and than sign to a major.

Crooked I does not have a big buzz.  If he did, he would have an album comming out real soon, and a major record label backing him.  Record labels are in the business to make money.  Crooked I will not sell units, its as simple as that.  I think he is a great rapper, but I know that he is not going to sell records.  Tray Deee is my favorite rapper, and I know that if someone he ever gets a solo album out, its not gonna sell shit.  Just because you don't sell records, doesn't mean that you don't make dope music, and vice versa.  Don't get me wrong, if I was in crooked I's position I would want to sell a million records too...but I would face reality.  Might as well put the album out independently, make some money, gain respect of real hip hop heads, and not worry about blowing up and becoming a famous rapper...whats wrong with that?

All you guy here are hiphop heads and fans but UNFORTUNATELY you all dont count as the masses. A buzz is someone who is HOT and has a HIT single that is popular even to ashley in the suburbs or Abdul in Iran or Kofi on the tree in Kenya. Thats what HOT and crooked I isnt hot. He may be hot to hiphop fans but not all hiphop fans buy hiphop albums. Times have changed people.
 Like the homeboy said above, he should just drop good music and not give a fuck about whatever happens. But you know what that means at the end of the day?

True but the majors dropped the ball in not recognising the potential hit status of that recent club type song from Crooked I.  However yeah if things are not finally going to get into motion then he might as well stop right now. These continuous weekly freestyles are pointing when he is not accompanying any of this with an album.. It does leave a bad taste in the mouth though when someone like Uncle Murda has a strong buzz and yet Crooked I who also has a street cred and is head and shoulders above him in terms of talent goes unnoticed.

That's the biggest nonsense I've read in this thread. I think the sole reason Crooked I doesn't bring out shit is that he's a terrible business person.
