Nate Dogg's Music & Me album
« on: November 25, 2007, 06:30:53 PM »
What's everyone's thoughts about this album? I thought Nate D-O-double G came correct on all the songs & I like how the guests didn't completely take over any of the songs & they get in right where they fit in. 8) The Nate Dogg LP that dropped in 2003 was good but not as good as this or the G. Funk Classics CDs. But overall I give the album a 8/10 because Nate didn't slouch on any of the tracks, it's just this LP can't compare to G. Funk Classics & I doubt any of Nate's future releases ever will.

Fav Tracks:

I Got Love
Backdoor
I Pledge Allegiance (correct me if I'm wrong but Kokane used this beat too?)
Your Woman Has Just Been Sighted (Ring The Alarm) (feat Jermaine Dupri)
Your Wife (feat Dr. Dre)
Can't Nobody (feat Kurupt)
Music and Me

some pros and cons

I Got Love  -  good song, Nate is one smooth n-i-g-g.a..

Backdoor  - weird beat, sounds like some deep in the woods midevil shit... maybe some hardcore Nate fans like it but I'm not feelin this one

Keep It GANGSTA  -  one of my favorite Xzibit verses I've heard, other than that the track gets annoying
also not trying to hear Lil Mo singin some bullshit, nice beat though with the vocorder involved

I Pledge Allegiance  -  nice Mel-Man beat, nothin wrong with this track, Pharoahe Monch and Nate do a good job

Woman Has Been Sighted  -  Nate with Jermaine Dupri, its' whatever, what you'd expect from the 2 I guess

Your Wife  -  fuckin tight Doc Dre beat and his typical rhymes about fuckin YOUR hoe
I wish Dre used this beat for somethin else with more rapping, it's a good song but too much Nate Dogg kills it

Can't Nobody  -  pretty good beat and Kurupt does his thing but too many interruptions by Nate

Another Short Story  -  some of that gospel sounding Nate Dogg shit

Concrete Streets  -  dope Battlecat beat and hook by Nate, can get repetitive like lots of Nate songs though

Real Pimp  -  with Ludacris, it's alright  you was talkin that YAP

Ditty Dum Ditty Doo  -  I like this Fredwreck beat but the lyrics are laughable... stupid ass Snoop and sherm heads rhymin bullshit throughout
if they rapped in a serious manner the track would have been good I'd imagine

Music & Me   -   this is cool song but can get repetitive, I like all the bass in the beat by Damizza

I Got Love (Remix)  -  Kurupt rips it, Nate is good on this but Fab is ok with some other homo I can't remember, replace them and this is a classic remix

Love this one. Doesn't compare to "G-Funk Classics", though.

I agree, it was a nice album but didn't come close to his debut.

I felt that on  Music and Me, Nate came back to being more of a hook singer, his verses were short, and it seemed like the rappers took over most songs. However, his solos were nice.

LMAO, I guess I'm one of those hard core fans because that's one of my favorites on the album. "Deep in the woods medieval shit" - come to think of it, it actually does sound like that!  Hahahaha

The Nate Dogg LP that dropped in 2003 was good but not as good as this or the G. Funk Classics CDs.

I never understood why people say this. The G-Funk Classics are incredible albums. Nate put his soul into it. He gave his everything. Music & Me is an ok album, but it's not nearly as good as G-Funk Classics. I'll rate Nate Dogg's albums as this:

G-Funk Classics 5/5
Music & Me 3/5
Nate Dogg 2/5
