The Clippers Just Can't Catch A Break...
« on: November 27, 2007, 08:26:38 PM »
Cassell going down tonight was not what the team needed. It's bad enough they're playing without Livingston as his back up and on top of that Brand is out. Hopefully Cassell isn't out for too long, because if he is, I don't think Knight or Dickau can really do the job effectively enough. Thank God Maggette is back. Him and Kaman are going to have to bring the team up together. They gotta continue their strong play. But, dudes like Thomas and Cut are gonna have to step up their numbers too. I can only imagine how well they would do with Brand back in the line up and a healthy Cassell. Can't say there's always next year cuz Cassell is damn near 40. Dude doesn't have much left. Hopefully Livingston can pick up the slack when he comes back.

They're the Clippers, what do you expect?...LOL. Injury prone Cassell was bound to go down at any given moment. You should be happy if he can play 40 games this year. Tim Thomas is playing out of his head with Brand out, what more do you expect of him? And Kaman is killin' shit, as well...as for Livingston, he will be lucky to ever play basketball again. As much as I hate seeing it, the Clippers will always be the Clippers...Acceptance is key.

i briefly heard somethin bout him on the radio but i didn't really hear the full scoop, wut happened to cassell? wut did he injure and how long is he projected to be out?

and yea, thank god maggette is back, they need another reliable scorer so badly. i'm tired of watching kaman get doubled in the crunch time and him passing it back out only for nobody else being able to put up the points. tim thomas and mobley are both pretty clutch but theyre also inconsistent as hell

I'm not expecting much from one of the oldest dudes in the NBA except to be the leader the team needs without Brand in. Thomas needs to relax on the excessive amount of three's he shoots. IMO, the Offense needs to be ran through Maggette and Kaman. They're most reliable. Cut needs to step it up! I have faith in Livingston. Sometime this year, I'd like to see the Clippers make a play for another veteran Point Guard.

EDIT

Cassell only strained his Calf, but with his age, who knows the effect it'll have on him. I'm sure he'll be back soon, probably miss a few games. But that's not what the Clips need right now. Barely got Maggette back, now they lose Cassell... It's just not their season.

If everybody on their roster was in decent shape they would make the playoffs easily. But some teams seem to be cursed.

Cassell gets these sorta' injuries monthly, it's nothing new...I just don't see the Clippers making the playoffs this year, once again, unless Brand returns with a vengeance. Thomas shoots a lot of threes, but he's connecting on a high percentage of them. Mobley was tearing it up as well, before he went down with that injury. Without Brand, though, the Clippers are unquestionably a lottery team, so you better hope he recovers soon...PeACe

You can say this for almost any team...

If there's a team you can say it the most for it's the Clippers. I mean seriously,

Kaman
Brand
Maggette
Livingston
Cassell

That's some slick shit. But 2 of them are fucked for life, one is injury prone and close to retirement and another one also injury prone. They will never be successful, ever, with that core.

Come on, now...I can make a sick starting 5 out of almost any roster. Golden State, New Orleans, Sacramento, Portland, etc....The one you posted isn't even THAT amazing. Livingston as the starting SG? I dunno, bro. Clippers are good when healthy, but like I said, they're simply the CLIPPERS. It's an organization that has done nothing but fail to put shit together. Can they turn it around? I hope...but don't count on it...PeACe

I'd like to see Cut step up and start and Livingston play a close back up to Cassell. I think that team would be a Playoff team easily. Would they win the Championship? I wouldn't go that far. They need a stronger bench. Knight and Dickau need to step it up. Thomas DOES connect on those threes more often than not, but he needs to be a bit more wise about it. He could be a very key asset as a back up, IMO. With a couple of key additions to the bench, or maybe even a stronger Shooting Guard, the Clips could def be a real threat, IMO.

I can't wait until the Clippers become relevant, so that we can have a real rivalry down in LA. I was excited as fuck a couple years back when we were about to face eachother in the second round. I know Clipper fans hear this a lot, but next year could be the one...PeACe

Depending on how healthy Brand and Livingston are and how consistent Kaman continues to be coupled with some key trades to bring a few more reliable players, the Clippers could be a solid team. It's just a matter of being patient.

What do you expect from Cassell? Dude is like 73 years old and can't have much left in his tank. The Clippers got some talent tho so they should be fine next season (depending on Brand's offseason decision making and the possibility of Livingston coming back).

Face it...even if Livingston comes back, he'll never live up to that amazing potential he had based on what happened (see Jay Williams, Dajuan Wagner).
