« on: November 28, 2007, 05:43:11 AM »
Who earns more money between the nfl and nba players ?
I know both are categories of players rich as hell, but in % i don't know if the contracts are bigger (in terms of $$$) in the nba or nfl.
The sponsors are @ the same level i guess.....

Who can "school me" about it ?  8)

Sponsors pay way more to the NFL because its the most watched sport in the U.S.

and yeah that was when he signed to the New York Yankees for the first time. He opted out of his last three years of his contract with them about a month ago and signed back  with them recently for like $275 million

He never signed with the Yankees. He was traded to the Yankees, from the Rangers.

He opted out becaus he wanted a longer contract, thus more money guaranteed in the future, and he knew he would also get a contract bigger than the one he had signed with the Rangers.

I need some meaning I can memorize

he's the best QB, i'll admit that.
randy moss/terrell owens/marvin harrison are the best wide outs
adrian peterson is the best running back (this year)

Well the NFL does have more viewers, and has always been bigger than the NBA overall. However...the teams have 40-50 players on average, while NBA teams only have 12-15...and there are probably three times as many coaches and assistants in the NFL...so the money is divided a lot more than it is in the NBA. Also, injuries are MUCH MORE prevalent in the NFL, and the overall length of career's are probably only 55-65% of what they are in the NBA...so the NBA players always get longer and better contracts.

I think the stars in the NBA tend to be bigger than the biggest stars in Football, and basketball does seem to be more of an individualized sport...so yeah, the players do get paid more.
