Question For Mellowman - Warren G
« on: June 30, 2001, 10:44:32 AM »
Yo mellow! I Just Had A Quick Question, Maybe You Could Shed Some Light On.

What's Your (And Dre's, If You Know) Opinion On Warren G's Production?  I Speak For Most Of The Peeps On The Board When I Say That Most Of Us Feel He's Got A Lil' Bit Of What Dre Does, Because We All Love His Stuff.  I Know Some Of His Songs He Just Straight Jacked Beats For, And He Samples A Lot, But What Do You Think Of Him As A Producer?

To Me, There's Nothing Quite Like a Warren G Album, Because The Beats Are ALWAYS Good.  He Has That Smooth Laid Back Sound That Everybody Just Loves.  I Want It All Was Easily One Of My Favorite Albums In Forever, So What Do You Think About That Album, And Warren's Album He's Working On. Have You Heard Any Of it?

Tell Dre We Wanna See More Of Warren, So Maybe He Could Hook Warren Up With Some Guestwork On Dre's Next Album (Warren's Always Welcome To Us, Even If His Lyrics Aren't The Greatest)...

Peace.

of couse i dig warren. the love of music started with dre's mom. she passed it on to dre and warren and tyree :'((r.i.p.). warren's production is usually real dope. his second album contained some poor songs but albums 1 and 3 were very good. "regulate" is a CLASSIC joint. yeah, it sampled michael mcdonald's "i keep forgetting" but that was what made it cool(along with nate, of course). i love warren's 2 tracks to the Poetic Justice soundtrack. unfortunately warren is not a real good rapper and some of his  artists are kinda weak. but warren made some cool songs on dfc's album and the twins album. and even though dre was doing the producing, the mixing and the instrumentations on The Chronic warren had some great ideas that dre put to use.
of course warren always has to deal with the "dre factor". the pressure of being dre's brother is incredibly tough to live up to, in fact its impossible. and its not fair. but i have the ultimate respect for warren. he does A LOT of things in the community. and the shit he put up with from suge would have broken more than a few men. so i am a huge warren g supporter. and the fact that dre doesn't work with his brother much is because he is watching out for warren. its just too much to try to compete and too much pressure. they will be doing more work than they have since the chronic coming up. warren's new album should be dope and even better than i want it all. being with his brother and everyone on the up in smoke tour got warren some inspiration back and he truly feels a part of the family again. due to dre's busy schedule i wouldn't expect too much stuff together at this point. there will be some not too much. so i love warren as a person and as a producer. i think he's just a little bit below quik as a producer. but yeah he's got some dre in him, because they are blood. but warrens' talents stand on their own. and he should be respected as a dope producer. and people should not compare him to dre. like i said its not fair to dre and its especially not fair to warren.

To me REGULATE THE G FUNK ERA is the best album ever,
I even like it better than THE CHRONIC.

Thatz all I have to say about Warren G.

P.S. don`t feel his 2nd and 3rd album much but the 1st is my fav of all time.

Warrens third album is a classic, too many peeps slept on it, just like Snow ( the motherfucker who song Informer ) , his second album was actually better then his first album wise.

but just like Warren peeps slept on at cause it did not have Informer/regulate, that bomb ass single that could make the shit sell.

Game don't wait, original was better then Game don't wait remix

Not at all, I already explained it in that post about remixes. Its a shame that I Want It All only went gold, if that.
