Thanks for putting this on DubCNN's frontpage, Eddie.
this is dope news. Are they gonna play his video on MTV or MTV2?im starting to think that he aint gonna be played all over because hes mexican. This happens to alot of mexican rappers. Lil rob had the number one song wit "Summer Nights" but they never played the video on mtv or mtv2. Also "lean like a cholo".Another hit song that never had the video played on regular mtv or mtv2.They played these videos alot on Mun2 and mtv3 but they never play them on the other channels.Im thinking this is whats gonna happen wit this video. But whatevers, cant wait to see this ish.
^^^^Yeah, I have the same feeling. It's always the same people who pop up in Omar Cruz-threads. I don't expect everyone and their mama to be bumping Omar Cruz, but I'm quite sure that lots of people haven't even checked him out yet.And I think - I sincerely do hope I'm wrong - that it's because he's latino, and not black. It's understandable though in a way. Most latino rappers that people have heard are very average rappers (most of them fit the image of the 'cholo rapper'. Sick Jacken and stuff are on a different level of course), so maybe they think: just another latin rapper trying to make it.But Cruz has dropped enough material (most of it for free, need I remind you) to let people into his music, so they can get to know what he sounds like, what he raps about. In his interviews he also comes across as an eloquent guy, someone who clearly has a vision for his music. Which is not something you can say about, for example, cholo rappers. So yeah...what it all boils down to, is: at least take some time out to give Omar Cruz a shot. If you're still not feeling him after a few songs/mixtapes, well hey...no problem, at least you tried. But don't just sleep on up-and-coming rappers who are working their ass off to try to take this West Coast rap thing to another level. If we, the fans don't even support average/good/dope West Coast rappers, then there's no way in hell that the West Coast will ever be on top again in terms of popularity.
