We Lost A Snoop Fan ... Give 10 Secs Of Silence
« on: June 18, 2001, 02:56:40 AM »
I was just catching up with a homie from my Snoop Dogg club on Yahoo! I haven't talked to him since October so it was cool, but we have gone in different directions... he was the biggest Snoop fan on the planet and was anticipating Tha Last Meal for ages!
I was just getting into the web thing and well he was a legend in the Web thing, especially on Snoop stuff.
Anyway when Last Meal dropped he was very dissappointed... he has been doing what a lot of Snoop fans have been doing... waiting 8 yrs for another hardcore gangsta album. Well there was a time when I was, but I soon realized the change in Snoop and I accepted and really appreciated him more. Anyway he doesn't listen to him anymore... he has gone to underground music and really stays away from mainstream. He thinks mainstream is getting to crazy and really can't feel it much. He still feels Dre, but can't feel Snoop. Well its something I hear a lot... people who say Snoop FELL... and even though I usually just say.. THEY DONT GET IT... this struck me weird, almost saddend me because he was the man that really pushed me into Snoop's fan cage. Then he just said... it's over... To me Snoop's artistic expression is one of ... and I will is the BEST in HIP HOP. Maybe he doesn't stay REAL like his old fans say... or isn't as HARDCORE, but his view on life is damn straight... ok... so we got attached to Doggystyle, but Tha Last Meal was an album saying LOOK ITS NOT THE SAME, NOW CHOOSE... and that's why it has been nominated for best rap album of the year... it's artistic side is back... and Snoop is getting better. I don't think what Snoop brought is all I want... he is changing everywhere it goes and yes, Im PROUD to say im a fan... i get sick of people who say... his flow is gone, but he brings a message now, that he didn't bring... its great... my friends say I'm obsessed... but hell they all love MR JIMMY BUFFETT... okay well I LOVE SNOOP DOGG and it hits me weird when people say... they have lost touch with his music...

we lost a fan... we lose them everyday

but we always gain some too

it's not about being true to what you had, but being true to yourself.

hip hop is so empty anymore people arn't looking at music for content no more they'd rather have and mc tounge twist lyics that are empty and redundent then to have them mean somthing, yeah i like some empty musicians but that's why they're all "underground" cuz alot of them don't mean anything they might got DAMN tight lyrics but they don't mean a damn thang and all the "underground" artists who acutally mean somthing usually break throught like mos def and common, snoop might not be political but his outlook on life is somthing we should live by, that's why i get pissed too when people hate on snoop and especially when they hate on pac people run their mouths and say "i don't know why pac is considered the best mc ever...GZA is a better lyracist than him, oh chino XL can outfreestyle him" so..... they might be able to do that but they don't mean as much as pac did and with all due respect to both of them they never will

and to add to my ranting off...that's why if you'll notice that all the people who've actually meant somthing to this business have been around for 10 to 15 years, hammer sold 10 million records but he didn't mean anything and is gone now, KRS didn't really went super mega platnum but he's still around....get my point

nuff respect, bpg, good post

yes, ive realized years ago, well never get another doggystyle, and i realized that snoop will neva get
"gangsta" with his lyrics again, i think we should be thankful that snoop is real enuff to not rap about g lifer when he aint livin it no more, id rather have that than some half ass mc rappin abouta life they dont lead

to me, what separated last meal from da game, and even top dogg, is the fuck the music he brought it back, we saw glimpses of it on eastsidaz and nltd, this is the new snoop, the pimpin, smokin, funkin laid back playa

Snoop Dogg is still dope as ever.  He has so many hot joints out.  The Last Meal is a great album.  And believe it or not--Snoop single handedly makes The Doggys Angels album listenable (no joke).  Plus-The new Eastsidaz joint sounds tight  as hell.  Also-Make sure to check out "Do U Wanna Roll" from the Dr. Doolittle 2 soundtrack.  That joint is hot!!  In other words--Snoop is STILL the shit and thats fo shizzle~
