well, hip hop as a whole sucks nowadays. and good mc's aren't pretty enough to be on mtv. its a fashion show, plus the internet fucked off the chances of us buying a whole album just for a couple tracks

For those asking where Cham and UGK are, this is just the current status of albums still on the charts now.  They're off, but I think UGK already went Gold.  I'm also happy to see Com sold as well as he did - that's his third Gold record right there.

I'm also pissed off to see Soulja Boy sold as much as he did, but look on the bright side: While respected cats like Com and Lupe are still doing respectably, pop-rappers who were popular years ago (like Chingy and Birdman) are waaayyyy down.  You can see the difference between who endures in the game and who doesn't.

Sure it did.  You don't have to sell 2 million to go 2x Plat, the label just has to ship 2 million records to stores.  With 1.93 million sold, I guarantee you Kanye will get that second Platinum plaque.

let me just say it like this.. digital music is up, audio cds is down... There is realy no hiphop heavy hitters out right now.. Hiphop is doing realy big in number one hits only.
