The wise man asked.....

"There's been some ups and downs, but its all good"....

I replied....

"Hey if there weren't some ups and downs, then it wouldn't be real"

The man replied

"I like your style"

I said....

Then months later I replayed his words in my head....

If it wasn't for wanting to be dead....

It wouldn't be real!

...If it wasn't for the pain in my head....

It wouldn't be real!

...If it wasn't for the mistakes that I've made....

It wouldn't be real!

...If it wasn't for the love that I lost.....

It wouldn't be real!

....If it wasn't for the times that I failed....

It wouldn't be real!

...If it wasn't for me being humiliated now and again...

It wouldn't be real!

....If it wasn't for me ruining someones life.....

It wouldn't be real!

...If it wasn't for me having my life ruined twice.....

It wouldn't be real!

....If it wasn't for the smiles and the frowns....

It wouldn't be real!

Ups and downs?...
I’m tired of sittin back and just wastin
Patience wearin thin like the grin that’s erasin’
From my face when I’m lookin at a meal & can’t taste it
A steak right in front of my eyes that’s getting wasted
Pacin’ back and forth in this land of opportunity
Ideas always rain but my brain is just usin me
Steady on the grind findin time to make cheese
But not one moment to do what I may please
Please… got essential credentials and the potential
But I’m the Kwame Brown of life and every ball I drop is mental
I guess what it all boils down to is will
For real…Cuz I know that I still got the skill
I feel that once I’m done climbin’ this hill
I’ll post all the way at the top and just chill
Then you’ll know the real me, the truth will be exposed
With my youth I’m pimpin hoes and in the booth I’m spittin flows
But for now…I gotta get through the mental obstacles
Is it possible? No doubt…The real question’s if it’s probable.
