he's an IDIOT if he resigns because then he loses compensation pay AND can't go to another team until his contract is up

Al needs to let his coaches coach. This revolving door of coaches we have going on the last few years wont result in a Superbowl anytime soon.

Raiders deny Davis asked Kiffin to quit

January 26, 2008

The Raiders denied a report Friday that owner Al Davis had asked coach Lane Kiffin to resign.

Cting unidentified sources, ESPN reported that Davis had drawn up a resignation letter for Kiffin two weeks ago but that the coach had refused to sign it. Kiffin, 32, has two years left on the contract he signed in January 2007.

"There is no issue here," Raiders senior executive John Herrera said. "There was never an issue here. There's nothing to it."

Speculation about Kiffin's status began three weeks ago when reports surfaced after the season that he wanted to fire defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. The Raiders dismissed those reports and announced that Ryan was staying on as coordinator.

The team went 4-12 in Kiffin's first season in Oakland, doubling the team's victory total from the previous year.

jamarcus russell aint gonna be shit in the NFL sadly

he held out and missed out on VALUABLE training experience

then they never played him cuz they got Culpepper who out of his prime is still better than Jamarcus will be.

jamarcus leaves and LSU wins the championship lol.

The reason he didn't play much of the season was because he missed the training camp and didn't know the plays. They developed a play book just for him midseason and when he did play he showed flashes of what could potentially be the next great qb in the NFL. I'm not saying that he necessarily will be a great qb, but it is far too early to pass judgment on him. This isnt god damn Alex Smith we're talking about here. He's not especially quick on the run, but he's got probably the strongest arm in the league and with his size he will be great in a qb draw in short yardage situations. He didn't go number 1 because he isn't talented. its obvious you just hate the Raiders and want him not to succeed, but try to keep your haterism from fuckin off your logic.

A lot of the QB's coming into the NFL are products of a spread offense in college where they are often running as often as they are passing.  You could truly interchange a bunch of different QB's into this system and not have much of a fall off.

The most prolific offenses over the last few years like Florida, Texas Tech, Hawaii, Kansas, Oklahoma State, etc really run a gimmick offense that makes their QB's look like gods when in fact they are really just average.

The system works in the college game because there can be significant drop offs in speed from defense to defense.  Shit doesn't work in the NFL cuz every one of those dudes on the defensive side are big and fast as fuck.

Maybe Russell doesn't necessarily fit that mold exactly, but I honestly don't see that style of QB ever winning a super bowl.
