Honestly, if the eastsidas weren't down with snoop do you think they would have got a record deal?

Personally, i think that they would have no chance.

Tray Deee had a solo deal with Epic/Sony but he didnt like the deal and left.

Goldie was signed to an independent label called Street Solid.

so to answer your question, yes.

independent labels don't really count coz with them it's a matter of who you know and not really how much talent you have. If tray dee stayed at epic/sony no one on this site would have heard of him.

I feel the same way about daz, if it wasn't for deathrow would he be in the game? i've heard better rappers in my local area than him.

It aint like that at all, thats more mainstream than independant. Independant labels need talent beacuse they can sell albums.

Naw your wrong. Rappers who aint got what it takes to sign with def jam, loud columbia etc sometimes end up on independant labels.

Most independant labels have average rap artists who have not quite been good enough to make it and somehow found a way into the game. Look at cash money and all them. Even snoop did it with the doggy angels and eastsidas.

Back in the day there was always an exception like when kurupt and snoop emerged from deathrow, this was because the major record companies were not that interested back then. As the industry has now boomed, all rappers with talent get signed straight away like the young 'ali vegas' for example.

Have you noticed how antra signed kurupt whilst daz has to find a label for himself, this is because daz isn't really good rapper and record companies know that.

thats BS. independent labels are started as a way to make the owner and the artists more money by avoiding the corporate mainframe which caters to the commercial market. It has nothing to do with how good the artists are. Those big labels only sign people they can market, not necessarily the most talented artists.

but anyway, eastsidaz are dope imo

I agree with the marketing part - dmx, jarule and other clowns. But look at all the best rappers in the industry - they are either locked with a record company - nas, xzibit etc or successful rappers now in charge of their own independant label - jay z, dre etc.

Jay z and dre have done well with their independant labels because they have quality throughout their teams. But snoops label consists of some wak artists.

Posts Like This Confuse Me.

You're Making A Big Mistake, By Dissecting The Rappers...

Like, "If Dre Hadn't Been With Ruthless, Would He Still Be As Dope"... You CAN'T Do That, Because That's What Makes Dre Dre!

Daz IS Who He Is, BECAUSE Of Deathrow.  So Why Ask If He'd Get Signed If It Wasn't For Deathrow? If It Wasn't For Deathrow, He Probably Wouldn't Even Be Rapping...

Tha Eastsidaz - If They Didn't Know Snoop, Would They Be Signed.  Well, 1., If They Didn't Know Snoop, They Wouldn't Have Ever Started Rapping... They Got With Him While He Was On Tha Row... So, That's WHO They Are... So Of Course They Wouldn't Be Signed... That's Like Saying "If Snoop Wasn't A Rapper, Would He Be Signed To A Record Label As A rapper" LOL

That's Like Saying "If It Wasn't For Snoop's Flow, would He Be Dope"? What Kind Of Questions Are These,...

These are the type of questions to make certain people on this site realise that the eastsidas are wak. There are no if's or but's, eastsidas are simply 2-dimentional.

Westcoast rap needs to advance - the eastsidas take the west 2 steps back with the same old gangsta, tough shit.

These are just my opinions. Most of you people will always love that gangsta shit, which is your taste and is cool with me. I personally like that gangsta shit with that little bit extra - kurupt, xzibit and crooked i.

Peace, i'm out.

personally i think Tray deee and Goldie are talented lyricists (especially Tray) and although their subject matter is limited they are still a lot better than over half of other gangsta rappers out there.

but if u dont like them its all good
