Del the Funky Homosapien goes up against his East coast friend/collaborator/and now label head, El-P, in a friendly exchange in the latest issue of Filter Magazine. The two discuss struggling for art, going solo, and how Del’s latest album, Eleventh Hour, ended up on Definitive Jux records.

In addition, an excerpt from Del’s 11th Hour DVD, which was released on Hieroglyphics in 2005, was just posted on YouTube. The clip offers a rare glimpse into the performer’s life as he opens up about his career, his relationships, his influences, and how they are continually shaping and reshaping his music…”

Eleventh Hour hits stores on March 11th and is Del’s first solo album in eight years. Fans got a first listen earlier this month when new track “Bubble Pop” leaked to the internet.

From the sound of his first single and the names of a few of the songs on this tracklist (naked Funk, Funky Homosapian),I think Del might be going back to the funk sound he had on his first album. That would be great.
