The Nets have agreed to trade Jason Kidd and Malik Allen to the Mavericks for Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, Devean George, DeSagana Diop, Maurice Ager, two first-round picks and cash.

harris - great young pg, with potential. He has started a lot of games, but has been pretty inconsistent in the assist category
stackhouse - on the decline, who cares
geroge - average players, who's best days are behind him
Diop - good role player. Great rebounder and blocker, but worth giving up for kidd
Ager - Barely plays, hasn't been in Dallas plans as of yet.

^If I were the Mavs, I wouldn't even give Devin Harris straight up...He shoots a great percentage for a small guy and has amazing foot speed. And he's 24! Could easily be the next Tony Parker. Jason Kidd will be retired when Harris hits his prime.

Teams like the Mavs and the Suns have a win now mentality. They've been playing so good for the past few seasons, but they've yet to win the big dance. This trade won't benefit Dallas down the line, but it SHOULD benefit them this season or next.

remains to be seen how good Farmar can be but what NIK said isnt as stupid as you think. The Lakers are a young team and can rely on the future and already gave up Crittenton and have veteran leadership in Fisher. That bein said Dallas did what they wanted as far as wanting to win now...doesnt mean all teams are in the same situation.

Thank you. People criticizing this deal are looking at it with blurred vision. At the time that the Lakers and Nets tried coming to a deal for Kidd, it was a win now situation. Now, this season, the Lakers don't need a win now scenario, they have a team that will work well into the future.

But, the Mavs are at a win now point. They don't wanna waste any more years without winning. The deal works for them. Yes, they gave up a good young prospect, but Harris was NOT gonna bring them a title this season or even next. Which is what they wanted.
