Mixtape DJ's [Drop Your Opinion]
« on: February 15, 2008, 03:49:36 PM »
I'm just opening this topic because my topic where I was fantasizing a few DJ's would get killed by Eddie was locked. The thing is... These mixtape DJ's sicken me. I tried to start a petition at petitiononline.com, but for some reason I don't get an e-mail from them. I can see why a DJ puts his name on a mixtape. An artist gets his name out because DJ's promote him and the costumor will cop a mixtape because of the (known) DJ's name. That all makes sense.

The problem with these DJ's is that their egos are too big. The name on the cover(s) is not enough for them. No, they need to tag every single song. Look at this Prime mixtape: it's a decent mixtape and finally we get some new Butch Cassidy and just when you're laying back enjoying the music you hear "Cali Untouchable DJ's"...

I listened to Nigger Noize like once because I wanted to wait on the (promised) untagged version. I've listened to Terrace Martin's mixtape a few times because I wanted to wait on the (also promised) untagged version, so I could get a proper listening experience. Young De dropped a dope ass mixtape, but as if Kurupt and B-Real weren't enough with their skits DJ Skee had to put his tags on it. One time (in the intro) is ok, but leave it at that.

Noone wants to hear DJ Warrior, DJ Khaled, DJ Skee, DJ Drama, DJ Clue, Clinton Sparks, etc. Everybody wants untagged music. It's not like the songs they put on mixtapes nowadays will be released on albums. Safe your DJ skills and your tags for the radio and for the club; for when it can add a little something to the vibe.

Let's go back to this Young De mixtape again. We probably have to wait months to get the untagged version of his mixtape, if we even get it at all. This poor rapper has to keep everyone from a proper listening experience because DJ Skee said he wouldn't promote it if it didn't say his name at least 3 times a song. It's messed up. The music industry is messed up and DJ's have a hand in the bad shape the music industry is in right now.

P.S. I think this is also a good moment to request the untagged version of Signal Flow one more time because DJ Skee messed up that mixtape.

P.P.S. This topic may look like I think DJ Skee is the most annoying person in the music industry, but that is not true. All these mixtape DJ's that tag more than just the covers are just as annoying and I wish them all AIDS.

Oh... and now we're getting this Crooked I mixtape with... tags. THANK YOU NIK BEAN. THANK YOU FELLI FEL FOR TAGGING THE MUSIC OF AN ARTIST THAT CAN'T GET AN ALBUM OUT.

I mean, I haven't heard the mixtape yet, but I'm figuring they're all over the tape. Noone can tell me that they benefit from Crooked I, so why do they tag this stuff? They are either desperate or they try to bully fans. Either way, I want to get an untagged version. I know Nik Bean posts here, so hopefully he'll do something for this online community and drop the untagged version along with the tagged version. That way we can decide what we want to listen to.

I feel you man, it's disgusting... It totally ruins the ability to listen to a track, then they cut the songs up and let them end prematurely. It never made any sense to me. I guess when it comes down to it, they feel they are pushing the music for the artist so they have a "right" to butcher it. Who knows...

I feel you Mauz, no homo :D
That's (probably) the main reason why I don't really listen to mixtapes. You're bumping the newest shit on max volume and suddenly "DEEEEJAAAAY SKEEEE" comes blasting out and scares the shit outta you.

Fucked up.

ok sure, protect your product while its new and all that... but eventually, you gotta release the good shit. Otherwise you're just making your product less and less desirable.

What's up DJ Warrior? Are you feeling a little butthurt today? :camp:

You do know that you actually have one of the most annoying tags, right? You come right after DJ Clue and DJ Khaled.

And thanks to you we will probably never get to hear "Now Here We Are" without your tags. Thank you very much, cock sucker.

Mixes that aren't live on the radio or in a nightclub should not have constant vocal tags. Bottom line. I don't care if you know every rapper from LA, if you suck at mixing don't make a mixtape. we know you suck, your shouting and gunshot sounds arent fooling anyone.

And the WORST thing is when the mixtapes costs money - and no untagged tracks..

dj's show their skills on mixtapes

If "skills" is yellin their name every other minute, I might think about becoming a DJ too!

Well, he has a point there... BUT most people don't want to listen to that. R-Tistic opened a good topic about this subject :)
