I always liked that cool/ smooth Jazz shit. But my knowledge about Jazz is very limited, and I'm struggling with all the subgenres. I rather like modern sounds, I'm not really feelin' that Louis Armstrongold school- shit. So who can recommend me some modern/ smooth Jazz (artists/genres?). Music examples will also be appreciated

If you don't like "that old school shit", Armstrong, Miles Davis, Mingus, Coltrane, Duke etc, maybe jazz just isn't for you. Sorry.

So when would you say "real Jazz" died?No need to feel sorry Jazz as a creative art form was pretty much dead by the early 80's, with just a few noteworthy exceptions. Quality jazz is still being made today, just not at the same level as it was in the 50's and 60's. If you really wanna get into jazz, your first album should most definitely be Miles Davis - "Kind Of Blue". Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" should be an excellent follow-up. Basically, almost any album from the 1940 - 1960 era is golden.PS: Sorry for the "sorry" comment. I didn't mean to sound cocky or rude.
Yeah, fuck that Kenny "Jew" G, wack ass watered down waste management. Check out Yusef Lateef, one of my personal faves.
