Just noticed something...

sometimes the board is going into permanent CGI timeout mode.

this is due to something creating a log on the server. its not the board its the server.
to fix it i have to delete the log.

its only done this once before.. but its done it three times in the last 10mins.

i've got someone looking into why this happens.

the problem is this... i'm going to bed now (and i'm drunk) =)

so if it happens again i'll fix it in the morning (about 10am board time)

ok that problem has happened twice again in the last day. I've got a strong suspicion its due to the fact the we're very busy.

I'm going to look into writing (yeah I'm a programmer in real life) a little script that will replace the board URL.
This would delete the files if they are there and allow the board to run - and best of all everytime someone comes into the board through forum.igangsta.com/index.htm
(which is how you are *supposed* to do it - so i can leave important news there) it would check/fix the board everytime =)

it could be something like that. i guess we have no way of proving it.

the board script definitely doesn't create any files with  the names i've seen 'LOG' 'MLOG' and 'FILE'. (coz iv'e spoken to the people that make it)

so its something to do with the servers

At Work, We Use Microsoft Access As A Front End Tool, And When 2 People Manipulate The Same File At The Same Time, It Fucks The WHOLE System Up, And We Have To Reboot....

It Only Happens Every Few Months, But It SUCKS.

So, Since There's More People Now, Maybe The Likelyhood Of Replying To The Same Topic At The Same Time Is Heigtened.

To Test It, We Could Have 2 People Just Reply To A Fake Topic Back And Forth For 10 Minutes And See If It Happens... LOL
