The Game was released from prison just before midnight on Sunday, after serving only eight days of a scheduled 60-day sentence. According to an e-mail sent to MTV News by his attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, the rapper was released due to overcrowding at the prison.

"He is now on probation and will eagerly begin his court-ordered community service," Holley added.

The Los Angeles native (real name: Jayceon Taylor), checked into the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in California on March 2 to serve a sentence for a felony charge of possession of a firearm in a school zone.

The felony gun charge stemmed from an incident that occurred in California in February 2007. Prosecutors argued Game punched a bystander and threatened him with a gun during a pick-up basketball game at the Rita Walters Educational Learning Complex in Los Angeles. The rapper wasn't arrested for the incident until three months later, when police searched his home for three hours in connection with the incident.

In February of this year, Game pleaded no contest to the charges and was sentenced to prison and ordered to complete 150 hours of community service and serve three years' probation.

The rapper was originally on the hook for three counts of making criminal threats and possessing a firearm in a school zone. Two of the charges were later dropped in an arraigned plea deal, and the rapper then pleaded no contest to the firearm possession.

Game was also arrested in May of 2006 on weapons charges after Burbank, California, police pulled over his vehicle on a traffic violation and discovered a pair of brass knuckles.

"We had anticipated that he would be release on or before April 2nd," Henchman explained to SOHH. "[We were expecting] it to be similar to what happened with Paris Hilton, where she was sentenced to 90 days and only did a week in the penitentiary. As of right now, I don't know what county jail he's at. We're anticipating for him to be home probably April, so he can promote his album."

Last month, The Game pled no contest to a felony charge of possession of a firearm in a school zone. The alleged incident occurred at South Los Angeles' Rita Walter Educational Learning Complex on February 24, 2007. Rather than fight the felony gun charges, the platinum rapper opted to serve a 60 days sentence in a L.A. jail.

"We've had extensive talks," Henchman revealed. "At first they weren't allowing him to really use the phones because they had him on 23 hour lock in. But, he's very productive in there. In fact, he's been writing some records. He has a record that he wanted to make sure that he's able to record immediately after he's released."

"I think this experience for him is going to change his outlook of what it is to have your freedom and what it is to have it taken away," Henchman explained. "I think for the positive its going to change some of his outlooks. But, he did say he wanted me to book studio time. He doesn't want to go home, he wants to go straight to a studio as soon as he's released."

The Game is currently working on his third solo album entitled LAX, scheduled for release some time this year.

no but i know enough niggas that been locked up in the los angeles county jail system to know when that site says they're out that means there out. The site will update court dates, visiter status and transfers.

some of yall never been to prison i see.. it works like this.. you go to county court.. then you go to county jail.. but you only go to county for 3 days to a week then you get transfered to the spot where you will stay.. if it a state or federally ran spot then you get released from County and then entered into state or federal. Of course the LASD site says hes out.. because he was released from county and given to state...county is only jail.. state or federal is prison.. so now hes headed to prison.. its as easy as that.. its now illegal for state prisons to tell you were hes located (online, you can ask through the mail though)..so you wont be able to find out unless someone tells you where hes at..

Only if he was transfered to another county spot would the LASD.org site say hes transfered.. as far as they are concerned they released him.. hes state property now..

why the fuck would he be released..tried of money buying everything, espically yourself outta prison, let him server his time...maybe he won't be a fucking dumbass in the future. Plus maybe he'll right a doubt as track for L.A.X in jail!
