what's goin on everybody. i thought i would drop by for a minute and give ya some info on a few different things. first of all, some of you have heard about some new dre collabs that may be coming up. yes, dre and gwen stefani/no doubt spent a day recording a song for their upcoming album. dre had a track sitting around that he was not using for any other project cause it was more rock oriented and decided to let no doubt use it. no doubt came in an wrote the lyrics to a song on the fly and together with dre they smashed out the song in a day. and just cause its rock don't sleep on this track.its dope. and yes dre is probably going to collab with erick sermon,fred wreck,warren g, ras kass and paul mccartney (sort of). mccartney is going to put together a double album of beatles covers for his dead wife linda's charity organization.and mccartney handpicked dre as someone he wanted to do a beatles cover. and dre agreed and was honored to be one of the first artists mccartney called to ask.and thats saying something about the respect dre has in the music community. i dontknow what song dre will remake. and i have heard a couple of other possible collabs but so i don't get peoples hopes up i will not comment on them for now. but they are dope possibilities. but again since dre is SO busy i would not count on every collaberation happening.i also wanted to clarify what beats dre uses for his collabs. most of the time they are leftover beats. these beats are either 2001 leftovers or leftovers from the last year or so of new productions. these are beats that dre likes a lot but does not have a place to use them. on every album dre has a certain direction that he is going and if he has a beat that he likes but does not match he will either toss it into the 3 or 4 hundred tracks he has sitting around or let another artist use it .and yes dre saves the best beats for aftermath projects. and when these collabs happen dre and the artist(s) ARE together in the studio. even if its a leftover track dre wants to direct and perfect the vocals and delivery of the guest artist. and he will add or subtract different things during the day or days the duet is happening.and of course dre mixes each track to perfection. the last time dre and an outside artist collaberated without being in the studio together was krs-1 appearance on "restless".that was done by tape. but the rest of the time whether its eve or no doubt dre works together in the studio with the artists he is collaberating. also, a few months ago when i posted about new dre collabs i mentioned d12.i warned you that these guys(with em's help) are CRAZY. if you'd heard american psycho you know what i mean. dres tracks with d12 are ridiculous. i think d12 will sell well right away but they are so over the top i don't know how many people will not get the joke and stay away. there could be protest troubles with this. and speaking of protests dre, mel-man and em have done a couple tracks for ems album. WOW. the 2 tracks i've heard and very dark put the production and ems delivery are even darker.yet it still sounds very cool. and dre is now filming the wash with snoop. if you don't know, it is based on an old richard pryor movie and comedy skit. and from what ive seen dj pooh is back on his "friday" groove with this movie after slipping somehat with his last movie. it should be really funny. it will be interseting to see the unbelievably focused and driven dre try to be comedic in this role. "the wash" will force dre to slow down a bit with rakim and the diallo soundtrack. and sorry but hittman and truth hurts may not come out. i like the tracks ive heard but since dre is such a perfectionist it might not be released.i hope they both are and hopefully dre will complete them  and release them like they deserve to be.  so its  50/50 on both those. also i want to congratulate daz on regaining focus and getting his productions back to high quality.unforunately daz and kurupts new joint (like most hardcore rap) doesn't evolve much.the tiresome themes take away from what should have been a great album. thats all for now. ill check back in a few weeks.but for now back to work and back to hibernation. keep the peace y'all. and keep the good work on this board up.
