DPG new cd,...a quick overview from me
« on: May 07, 2001, 08:53:51 AM »
Alright i have finished downloading it. I AM GOING TO BUY A COPY, I ALREADY ORDERED IN STOCK FROM CDNOW.COM

but anyway heres what i think:
everyone who says daz has fallen off on beats needs to listen to this. the beats are so much better on this dpg lp then on raw.
daz and kurupt fit very nice together.

best songs:
dipp with me-awesome beat, awesome chorus, and its good to see rbx on somethin, even though he is just talking

we about to get fucced up-holy shit! best song on the cd. great beat, great chorus again...great lyrics....i luv this shit...

shes just a b.i.t.c.h. - nice chorus, the beat is alright.

gangsta like-xzibit is a letdown to me here, but the beat is nice..real funky

treat her like a lady-this is a dope ass beat right here, one of daz better beats..nice lyrics by kurupt

shit happens-i like the earlier version better (im sure bplease will agree with me?) but anyway this beat is still dope, and its str8 gangsta lyrics..very dope..anyone notice they took off the "rocafeela dogg pound nigga!" they took off rocafella...

here we are-daz solo, nice beat

how many-dope ass chorus and beat, nice lyrics

dpg-new york new york beat basically with some other stuff added, pretty dope..daz dissing the fuck out of someone but he didnt name names

weak tracks:
COASTIN-this shit sucks compared to the rest of the album, i wish they would have released something else as a single

party at my house-sounds like a will smith song with cussing, not my kind of shit

my heart dont pump no fear-im not diggin this too much

overall i think this album is bettter tahn sticky fingaz (my previous album that i rated and said it was going to be one of the best of 2001..this is a solid 8.5 or 9....the bad things are the guest appearences, i luv they got rbx, but no snoop, no dre, no nate, kinda sucks, but o well.

I just got the cd yesterday, so I haven't got a good feel for it yet.  But I do feel like the production is along the lines of RAW... Still to early to tell though, early signs show that it's better than RAW, but not nearly as ill as Revenge Retaliation Get Back, Streetz is A Mutha, and obviously Dogg Food.

IMO I LOVE THE ALBUM

Sure, it aint as good as Dogg Food (4.5 Mics from me), but its on the quality of Streetz Iz A Mutha & RAW (I both give them 4 mics)

Comparing it to the lackluster RR&GB is a shame IMO (3.5 mics), & if you compare it to Kuruption (2.5 mics), I feel sorry for your ears, lol

I think every song on the album is tight

Sure, I dont think any of the songs are classics, but there above good & solid. The album is solid, not really a WACK song on it

I've heard it 20 times already (Its True Its True) & I can say that a few songs get really tired after a while, but that happens with alot of albums, except the Chronic & Doggystyle

The album wasnt "HARDCORE" Gangsta shit, like RAW or DOGG FOOD, it kind of reminded me of those LBC compilations but MUCH Better.

Thou i digg all the songs, these ones stand out for me:

DPG-02-Dipp_Wit_Me_feat_RBX-RNS.mp3
DPG-03-We_Livin_Gangsta_Like_feat_Xzibit-RNS.mp3
DPG-12-Best_Run_feat_Benie_Segal_and_Rosco-RNS.mp3
DPG-13-Sh_t_Happenz-RNS.mp3
DPG-15-Theres_Someway_Out-RNS.mp3
DPG-19-C-Walkin_Cha_Cha_Cha-RNS.mp3

Theres someway out is slow, & usually i dont like slow songs, but this song is the bomb

LoL.... alot of you said shit like that.... I haven't heard tha CD yet but when I do hear it... I'll come to my conclusion on whether it's good or not right away. Hambone said "I like it but I'd probably have to listen to it a dozen more times before i really start to feel it"
Either tha album is tight or it's wack.... you shouldn't have to learn to like shit... I buy a cd and I'm like "hellz yeah, this shit is bangin" if not I'm like "damn... I wonder how much the Wherehouse will buy it back from me for?"
I think alot of you are just too much DPG fans to say tha album aint that good...

Criminal 909 : No way what ur saying is wack.  It takes me usually about 3 or 4 listens to 'master' an album - listen to what they're saying, what it means etc
It took me 2 years to realize what the Doggfather is and how good it actually is
Albums are way deeper than 1 listen, which is way most critics usually make a hash of their reviews cuz they only listen to a CD once
Safe
