why is the war disc so underated???
« on: April 08, 2001, 10:53:50 AM »
aright i've been bumpin the war disc now for damn near 2 and a half years and i can honestly listen to that whole cd all the way through and get into every song, i mean the production is fabulous, cubes rhymes are contagious, and it's alot more original than alot of other bullshit that's out there in rap now....so why do people hate on this album so much, i know the peace disc wasn't all that great but the War disc is fucking great! what's the dilly???? and what do ya'll think bout this album cuz this album is one of my personal favs

I ain't heard the war disc yet eccept a few tracks but i got it comin in the mail, and i was feelin the peace disc.I've been saying this and saying this: Cube i still as skilled as before he just doesn't get into political commentary anymore,it's not cuz he's lazy but i doubt he has anything to say about it now, otherwise he would. He's still has as much skill as before but unlike Snoop he USES IT,peace-Tanjint

i felt that potna. in order for an album to be a classic it must have like 5 joints that are mind blowin , and this cd defininitly has it. the first 7 tracks are classics , then the middle part is suspect to me , and then it finishes off with Extraditiion (that joint is a classic) its kinda like The Chronic where u had the first 5 or 6 bein incredible.
"i rather eat piraunha from benihana , smokin marijuana in my sauna"
ugh that shit was sick!
and also another thing about cube is that bein a movie producer he is , he always got dope ass skits. all of his albums got dope interludes and on the war disc it made me feel like i was listenin to a movie. i really liked the australian dudes narrating.

I think different albums are determined classics by different things like dogg food and illmatic have to sink in for awhile and then you're addicted to it...doggystyle the chronic regulate and mwtc leave you like WOAH right after listening....i think those 2 things make you see if an album is classic, I bumped slim shady LP for almost a fuckin year consistently, does that make it a classic? I think not, then i got the chronic and i barely listened to SS LP since, but i don't have SS LP anymore since it got jacked..that's comin in the mail too...peace-Tanjint

I Thought War Was Tight... I Bought It The Day It Came Out, And Bumped It Non Stop For Months... The First 7 Tracks, You're Right, Are Amazing.  I Thought The Peace Disk Was Gonna Be Like This Album, But Just With Mellow Songs, So The Peace Disk REALLY Dissapointed Me.  War I Would Give Probably An 8.5, Outta 10 Dubs.

The Source (12/98, p.205) - 3.5 Mics (out of 5) - "...in spite of his new allegiance to the life of a Dom-sippin' kingpin, Ice Cube can still be vocally mesmerizing..."

I think it is much much MUCH better than Peace disc. For some reason the Peace disc recieved better reviews.

I never understood that.

This album still rotates in my player, in fact I was listening to it when i got online.. Two years ago I was driving from Cali to Wisconsin (my home state) and I think the drive through Colorado I just repeated the war disc, its a CLASSIC! Shit, I love Ghetto Vet, its just a classic, meaningfull song that I can't get over ........ shit, if you dont have this album, first, slap yourself, then, get some money, slap yourself again, and again, then go buy it, and when you hear it, slap yourself for not buying it two years ago.... get what im saying????

There has been a couple of albums the last two years that were as good if not better than "Amerikkkaz Most Wanted"...

Yeah, But There Hasn't Been Any Albums LIKE Amerikkka's Most Wanted, That's A Really Unique Album.  Nobody Says Anything Anymore, It's All Pot & Women... Lowriders And Guns.  Back Then It Was KKK, Islam, Rich, Poor, Struggle, Rebellion... etc.
