Questions on some west artists + track
« on: April 08, 2008, 06:24:34 AM »
I got some questions regarding some west coast artists. I'd be thankful for some help with these:

1. A couple years ago DubCNN posted some tracks with a new west coast artist. Some of the tracks sampled Queen, eg. The Show Must Go On. They had that 'chipmunk-sounding' thing in the chorus that was popular at the time. Can anybody remember the name of that artist? Which tracks were posted? Is it possible to find them somewhere now?

2. Whatever happened to Conway? I heard he changed his name to something else. What does he call himself now? I heard a track a while back called 'Monsta Flow' with him. Where can I find that track? Is it on any album or mixtape?

3. I found this track on my harddrive. It's by Smackola and it's called Impossible. I kinda like the track and was wondering what happened to Smackola? Any info on records, mixtapes, what he does now...?

Here's the track: Smackola - Impossiblehttp://www.sendspace.com/file/34ar0i

Thanks for the info Rud.

I remember reading about Westside Way but I didn't make the connection to Conway. The info was very helpful. No need to upload 'Monsta Flow' though, I found it through that interview link you posted. Thanks.

About question 1. I can only remember that it was an up and coming artist. Probably unknown. I think you on dubcnn introduced him. Along with the introduction some tracks were posted. At least 2 of the tracks sampled Queen. One of the samples was from 'The Show Must Go On". This was when some producers made voices in the chorus high pitched "chipmunk-sounding". like Kanye's "Through the Wire", so it must have been around 03-04. I think the artist's name started with an R, but I can be totally wrong. I don't remember. I have tried searching the dubcnn history, but couldn't find anything.
