A few years ago you said you had recorded a song with Dr. Dre, are we still going to hear that record? No, it’s actually a song I wrote for Dr. Dre and his album. The haters got in the way and I still have people calling me asking me about it. I really just did it to extend myself out to Dr. Dre and told him that I know what he needs and the people around him aren’t going to be able to get it to him. Dr. Dre is at a point in his career where he can’t afford to make a mistake or put out a mediocre record out at all. He’s set the bar so high for himself and the people he’s surrounding himself with right now aren’t genuine and have no talent. I mean why would it take Dr. Dre so long to get a Detox record out? He has all the money and resources, why would it take all these years for him to get his record done? Who knows? If you be honest right now… I’m a realest I don’t give a fuck if Dr. Dre never fucks with Dre’sta again, I don’t need nobody but Dre’sta and God. If Dr. Dre is honest with himself… If you’ve heard any songs on the internet that they believed to be for Detox have been mediocre at best, you know what I mean? Yeah. It’s all because Dr. Dre needs the right guys around him and somebody that can come in and give him the right shit to say; someone that can re-create him the way that he needs to be re-created. It has to be on another level, it can’t be the same old g-funk type of shit, and we’re too old for that right now. It’s really needed as well because that can change the whole motion of the music right now. I think it’d be a great idea if he called you in.I reached out to him and the song was so hot, that there were some lines in the song that we’re so cold… I said damn, I got no call back and I mines well start dissecting the song and throwing a line here and there on some of my own songs. I actually threw a line from the Dr. Dre song on a record I got called “No Compromise.” The second verse starts off like (editor’s note: begins rapping) “Who say the west ain’t relevant? Behold the benevolent, I’m rich and I don’t forget shit like an elephant.” That’s a line Dr. Dre could have had on his record, that’s the kind of shit he could have got by fucking with Dre’sta. It isn’t for nothing though; I am always going to use what I have. Just imagine Dr. Dre having that line, which rapper have you heard with a line that vicious in years? It’s been a while.(Editor’s note: begins rapping) “Who say the west ain’t relevant? Behold the benevolent, I’m rich and I don’t forget shit like an elephant.” That’s one of the dopest lines I ever wrote and I gave it to another man who didn’t appreciate it…I can’t say he didn’t appreciate it, whoever the motherfucker was who was supposed to get it to him didn’t appreciate it or didn’t know what it was. It could have been the wrong network.Yeah, I can’t put all the blame on Dre but at the same time myspace is open all day long and people contact me everyday. I know (Dr.) Dre has people out listening and if they told him to come and listen and he chose not to, that’s his bad. I got another song called “Falling” about what goes up, comes down. A lot of these artists that thought they were the one and this and that, you see it; I don’t have to mention any names.
I’ll let them know. Are you still working with Madness 4 Real?Yeah, all the time. Those are some dudes that I started with; I get emailed beats all the way from Denmark. I have about one hundred tracks from Madness 4 Real right now. I still deal with them; they are my folks and I fuck with them regularly. They are some of the hottest and most under-rated producers out there.
