The problem with Avery is that he's way too anal...he didn't let his players take control of the game. He had to be on top of every single play and felt the need to call everything his way, instead of letting the players play freely when needed. He didn't let Kidd truly run the show, as he shoulda'...he did the same thing with Devin Harris (only it was worse with Kidd, cuz Kidd's a savvy veteran). This is why Byron Scott is a better coach...he lets Chris Paul run the show, he gives him free will, and doesn't feel the need to call out every play and control every aspect of the game. That's how a coaches relationship with a point guard is supposed to be.

Yep. Johnson did we he had to to get his team to the playoffs ... from there, Dirk just blew it. He can't handle playoff pressure and shies away from the big shots sometimes.
