thanks a lot for this great interview!  8)

Dubcnn: Are we going to get a surprise 16 by you?

You know what? My “16’s” are all over the record. You won’t hear my voice, but *laughs*

:-X Dre needs to stop being so worried about how the D.O.C. sounds on the mic  ::)

he's probably the only producer that i know of, who could produce the right music for the D.O.C.'s voice  :-\

Quote
Dubcnn: After 2001, you hit us up with “Deuce”. Did you accomplish what you wanted to accomplish with that release? Do you feel good about that record?

You know what? I really felt good at the time, but “Deuce” was the result of an argument between me and Dre. That record was actually supposed to be an album on a guy called Six-Two, who was in my camp. But as we started building the album, it was coming through Aftermath, me and Dre got into an argument. So I just took my shit and left.

Dubcnn: Similar to what it was with the Helter Skelter project?

Well yeah. I told you we fuss, we fight; we’re brothers. But the Helter Skelter record was really Dre’s record, I just took it *laughs*.

Dubcnn: Just took it and ran with it!

Just took it and ran with it ‘cause I’m the only nigga that could do that! I relish my position as the man, next to the man goddamn it!

Dubcnn: On that Deuce record, that 1-2-3 Critical...that song was dope was ‘cause it reminded me of the Portrait Of A Masterpiece of your No One Can Do It Better album.

That’s exactly what it was! When I did Deuce, what I was trying to do was duplicate my years that I spent. I was trying to make a record that sort of encompassed all that time. And use all those artists the same way Dre used all the artists on the Chronic. But when I made the record, Dre was really adamant that I take my ass off that record. He wanted to take my voice off, and put his voice on it where ever I was. He was like, “nigga, I can make this a hit for you! You can get rich!” I was like, “I don’t want to be rich, I want to rap, nigga!” He said, “I can’t put it out like that.” We argued and fussed, so I finally just took my shit and left. But here 5, 6, 7 years later I realized that it was my pride and I was still trying to find that D.O.C. shit again. Even 20 years after the fact, not being able to rap is probably the toughest thing I’ve ever had to deal with. I mean, ‘cause I’m still better than all these muthafuckaz, man.

interesting, didn't know that Deuce was initially planned to be released through aftermath ( at least that's what the D.O.C. wanted).
well i'm glad the D.O.C. ran with it, as it wouldn't be released on aftermath anyway, unless it got changed heavily upon interscope's wishes.

perhaps he should do the same for the next album, just "borrow" beats from Dre  ;D

I hope this interview wasn´t planned,damn...  :P  ;)
I appriciate the work and I know it ain´t your fault,
but damn I even submited questions for a "follow up" interview last time around.

So Nima when are you gonna do the follow up interview you mentioned?
but Chad, as far as i know, they didn't provide an opportunity to submit questions for a next D.O.C. interview;

offcourse that's a disappointment but you can't blame them for it  ;)

anyway, looking forward to reading part 2  8)

Noncentz, any chance that you could provide an audio file of phone interviews in the future like the other staffmembers often do?

the D.O.C is the only reliable person when it comes to Detox release date .. so who knows , we might have a huge surprise at the end of 08

agree that Dre should not be worried,if Dre was indy it would probably be another scenario.
Numbers wouldn´t matter as much.
But you forgot (for a minute) that Erotic D did a hell of a job on Helter Skelter.

yes,a D.O.C album overseen by Jimmy´s bitch ass will be a disaster  :P  >:( >:( >:( >:(

if that´s the case,I got no problem with it.  ;)
It´s just that there has been way too many interviews done without involving the dubCC community lately.
That´s the main reason I signed up.  :P ;) ;)
I actually signed up to submit questions for the follow interview with D.O.C,Nima mentioned (in the previous D.O.C interview thread).
but i will be hooking up for a follow up interview soon enough.

nah i didn't forget about it, but Dre would have never given the D.O.C. a beat like the Crazy Bitchez one  ;)
or let him do such horrible singing :P

Helter Skelter was an awesome album.  I like the way DOC sounds on the mic.  Really gritty and stuff, it's a different sound.  Dre's stupid for telling DOC not to rap anymore.  If DOC doesn't spit anything on his new CD (Voice Through Hot Vessels), i'mma be dissapointed.....just like I was with Deuce.

-my previous reply was about not "letting" the dubcc community submiting questions.
Not about you, hope you know that  ;).
I know that you know your shit, that´s pretty obvious from all the interviews you done so far.
I hope you asked about this, since it you "forgot" to ask Breed about it  ;)

-You wrote Guerrilla Pimpin' for Mc Breed on his Flatline album,
but you used the same lyrics for your Deuce album with 6-2 performing them,
diden't you like the Mc Breed version or did you like the lyrics so much that you wanted them on your album also?

That DOC album idea is great!
So while sipping on grapefruit juice and having coconut cereal on some Hawaiin beach before going to work (Detox), DOC convinces Andre to get involved in this project of his.

Cube, Snoop and countless others will all be willing to help out their old pal (and rap over Dre beats) and certain MC's like from the Bone crew or Twista will be able to rap at supersonic speeds as the DOC used to.
