Detox Iz Not Active

He always brought the classic beats and he had all these wack niggas like AMG, PLaya Hamm, 2 II none.... holding him down.  Because they were so wack Quik never blew up like he should have

now before you start crying, all those rappers like I mentioned ARE DOG SHIT when they are not rapping on Quik production, Quik always carried them.  I was listening to this new "LA" track and the beat is some real smooth shit but Playa Hamm is just garbage on it as usual, but I can still bump it because of the Quik production being so good

That's the sign of a great producer. They elevate the quality of the mc.

Imgaine if during the Quik/Dre/Death Row times the producers were switched

and it was Snoop/2pac/DPG/Rage/RBX and the rest of Death Row spitting on Quik tracks

no! sometimes Long Beach Iz Active is full of shit... but most of the times he is right. the truth hurts.
most people are hating on him because they can't handle the truth

there is only 1 guy on quik's old camp that can handle his own...
hi-c is a great producer! really... 220 had some great tracks too.
but for the most part... quik always carried them

good point. I like all those rappers but none of them crack my top 10 or top 20 for that matter.
Dj quik held them down because of his amazing beats.

I was talking about how back in the early 90's, artists usually didn't collab with artists outside of their camps, or use production from producers who weren't part of their camps, unless they recently linked up and planned to do a lot together, like Cube was doin with Public Enemy's people. This hurt cats like Quik, because he didn't have the chance to produce for everybody in the game, or at least on the West, until 97 or so. In 91-92, Death Row was only using their producers, and no other rappers were really dealing with producers who weren't with their camps.

Nowadays, whenever a producer is successful, every rapper from his region will go to him for tracks. If things were the same back then, Quik would have definitely been able to produce for other cats.

Sorry but I disagree. Those cats were quite good. They may not be on Suga Free's level (and he did blow up, there was a time that there wasn't a West Coast album without a Suga Free cameo on it), but they're all talented... And I love their albums as well. AMG made some nice albums without Quik producting the whole album. Actually I'll go and listen to Bitch Betta Have My Money 2000 right now...
