Oscar De La Hoya Vs. Steve Forbes
« on: May 01, 2008, 10:10:37 AM »
"Homecoming"—On Saturday, May 3, De La Hoya will face former world champion Steve Forbes, in what will be the first-ever boxing event at The Home Depot Center's soccer stadium. The bout will also mark De La Hoya's return home to fight for the first time in Los Angeles since 2000 as well as his return to HBO's World Championship Boxing for the first time since 2001.

After watching one of the better Countdown show's ever made leading up to this fight I realise that Oscar winning this fight is not a given, IMO Forbes has absolutly nothing to lose in this fight. Forbes will be making the biggest pay day of his career in the biggest match of his boxing life on Sat.
De La Hoya on the comeback trail is set to be on the verge of his final 2/3 fight of his HOF career, a loss Vs. Forbes would be devastating.
and would destroy any Momentum going into a possible rematch with PBF Mayweather in Sept.

We know the Mayweather connections in this
From Sr. to Roger, To Jeff... Although the Name against Oscar is nowhere near the marquee name we are used to against the Golden Boy.
This will be the first Must win for Oscar in years.

I got De La Hoya by K.O. (Body Shot) in 6
Who do you see winning? Why?

De La Hoya needs this win badly... I can see him pulling it off.

It's a warm up fight for Oscar, his following two fights are the big ones.

This fight is a joke and so is the next Mayweather one.  We all deserve to see Mayweather fight the winner of the Cotto fight but him fighting De la Hoya again is a slap in the face to boxing fans.  I wanna see competition not two guys fight each with the basis being revenues and not to see who's better.  I understand boxing is a business but damn I feel like we're getting the short end of the stick so to speak

I know he's fighting Mayweather. Who's the other fight with?

If De La Hoya somehow beats Floyd, I'm guessing they will have a trilogy.  If it goes to the other way, those Pacman rumors might come true.

Win or Lose his Fight With Mayweather will prob still go down.
which sucks for boxing because that means no Cotto vs. PBF this year, or maybe ever...
I heard rumors of a Possible Hatton Vs. De La Hoya match also.

De La Hoya winning Scenario:
If Oscar can somehow defeat Both Forbes & Mayweather this year
I'd like for him challenge the winner of the Margarito vs. Cotto match. (Very Very Long shot)
because the Trilogy with mayweather would be the most likley to happen.

De La Hoya losing Scenario:
If Oscar loses both fights to Forbes & Mayweather, I see a farewell match with Trinidad in Puerto Rico.
De La Hoya vs. Trinidad II would still be a fight I would like to see. (Oscar got jobbed the first time, IMO)

De la hoya is really all about the money now.I think he is just doing this fight for free to showcase that he can still fight and ko people and just setting it up for Delahoya vs Mayweather 2.All BS.

The fucker is a promoter, of course it's all about the money.  Forbes has a similar fighting style to Mayweather Jr, so Oscar wants to tune up against him.  At the same time he's potentially getting more fans by offering some pretty cheap tickets for tomorrow's fight as way of "giving back" to the community.

This was a good fight. Forbes was no slouch and can take a  punch ....and he's never been knocked down in his career. Oscar was solid the entire fight with jabs and combos. This was good for Oscar because his biggest weakness has been the late rounds and tonight he was just as sharp in the 11th and 12th as he was in the 1st and 2nd rounds.

Regardless of a lack of K.O. or any real hard power shot's in this fight..
this was the best I personaly have seen Oscar look in years. (Movement Wise & Stamina)
in a rematch with PBF, I give Oscar a good as chance as any to win. (Considering he gave Floyd a run the first time)

Would be interesting to see tho, alot of people saying Mayweather will throw the fight to make a trilogy...lol
you know boxing always has the "Mafia" involved in it.  ;) , as we Mexican boxing fan's always say.

but a Cotto match in December  :o
that one really would be a great fight for Oscar, I'd put everything on the Golden Boy.
(That has Boxing lesson written all over it, style wise)

Prop's to ODLH for Resurecting his Boxing yet again.

true... but a father saying it and then training someone to do it makes it a unique situation.
