Earlier in the season I was on the Paul and Howard for MVP bandwagon but lets be serious,  look how long Kobe had to wait and he has been the best player in the league for several years now,  it would of been a joke to give Chris Paul his 1st MVP award this year w/out Kobe ever have winning one.  And besides all that Kobe flat out deserved the award this year,  Paul is going to win a lot of MVP's in his career,  I don't have much doubt that he will eventually become the best point guard of all time however right now this is Kobe's league and its about damn time he won the award.

I take it you've never heard of a guy called Magic.

NIK right now Magic is the g.o.a.t of Point Guards but with what Paul is doing already in his career you cant deny he has a great chance to take that spot, the guy is amazing.  The sky is the limit w/ this guy, Its unreal to think how great he is already, flat out scary.

^You replace Chris Paul with Deron Williams, and you still have a great team. You replace Kobe with ANYONE in the league, and we would not be the biggest threat in basketball, as we currently are. Paul is valuable, but he is not the "one and only" type of player...very replaceable. Now, if we removed both Paul and Kobe off their teams, it'd be:

PG Derek Fisher
SG Sasha Vujacic
SF Lamar Odom
PF Vladimir Radmanovic
C Pau Gasol

vs

PG Jannero Pargo
SG Morris Peterson
SF Peja Stojakavic
PF David West
C Tyson Chandler

Looks like the Hornets have 3 all-stars to the Lakers' 2 (1, if you consider that Odom never played in an all-star game). Now, ask yourself...who is honestly the better overall player, Kobe Bryant or Chris Paul? Which team finished 1st in the west? Which team persevered through injuries? Who bitched who in their head-to-head match ups? I think it's pretty obvious who our MVP is. Only a hater would say this wasn't Kobe's year.

But if you take Chris Paul off that team, then David West is not an All Star and nobody is getting the ball where they want it and defenses don't have to stay honest without Paul's presence.

Yea, right...David West was gunna be an all-star regardless. He was college player of the year well before Chris Paul.

Well it IS interesting to note that David West's first all star appearance came in his 6th season and coincided with Chris Paul's first MVP caliber season. People barely knew who he was before this year. And your argument that he was destined to be an NBA All Star because of his collegiate success is weak. Many players have illustrious college careers but ultimately end up being busts in the NBA.

^That's because David West was still a developing young player before Chris Paul came along...you think he wouldn't put up all-star numbers if he were traded? LOL. This is becoming worse than when everyone was giving Nash all the credit for the Suns "success".

I don't see Chris Paul being nearly as talented as Magic. Isiah Thomas was the better comparison. Paul is amazing, but Magic was simply Magic. The things he did on the court at the height of 6'9" were mind-boggling. he led his team to championship in his rookie season, filling in for Kareen at CENTER. Magic is currently the GOAT and the only people who came close to taking over that spot were Jordan and Kobe (<who still has a good chance).

a 4 year college guy shouldnt need 6 seasons to develop in the NBA. I'm not saying he's not good though, just pointing out that West without Paul is not an All Star.

^Ummm, he was putting all-star numbers in his 3rd season. LOL. College player of the year is bound to be an all-star caliber player, depsite what you think.

I'd hardly consider 17 and 7 "all star numbers" but whatever. And College Player of the Year does not = all star.

Love CPIII's game like the next dude...
but let's wait until he put's in 8/9 years of this type of ball before even talking about Zeke, let alone Magic.

Yeah talk about jumping the gun. This dude is only 3 years deep and only had 1 jaw dropping season.

Because he couldn't single-handedly take down the defending world champs? C'mon man.
