2001 was written by multiple people - jay-z, eminem, hittman, knoc-turn'al, i'm sure snoop/doc did their part as well and that album was great

Basically I could make a so-so beat, rap over it like I had written something for Dre, then send it to some hip-hop websites and say "hey, my name is UCC, I'm ghostwriting for Dre and this is a track that is probably going to be the buzz single for Detox" - that's basically all that's happened so far, and its a great way to get some shine if you're an artist no one has heard of
