Boxing: Antonio Margarito Vs. Miguel Cotto (Poll)
« on: May 16, 2008, 03:55:03 PM »
It is quite possibly the best fight that can be made in today's welterweight division. Fight fans anticipate a spectacular, give-and-take war that will likely be the fight of the year. The tickets will sell like hot cakes, and the pay-per-view sales will go through the roof. The fight in question? As surely every fight fan can guess, the match-up I'm talking about is the Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito showdown.

Well, the fight is now official and the two men will meet at The MGM Grand in Las Vegas on July 26th. According to Dan Rafael of ESPN.com, promoter Bob Arum obtained both fighters' signatures and the fight is a go. Arum revealed this great news to ESPN earlier today.

One thing IMO, Margo is very underrated at is his body punching.
Also Tony is the most active busy Pressure fighter in the sport today.
(Even more so than Calzaghe)
He throws more punches per round than any fighter in the sport today.
and has awesome condition and power thruout a 12 round fight.
Let's not forget a granite chin.

it's not gonna be easy for Cotto. (Fight of his life)
Box, Box, Box, Move & Move again.
Do not trade, nah! on seocnd thought Trade Miguel!!
I wanna see what you are made of?

Can't wait.
I expect a great fight.
Margarito by Late K.O.

This is possibly gonna be one of the best fights....ever. Im not a fan of either fighter, but Cotto did get past my boy Mosley, and Margarito is fuckin relentless. This could go either way. If Cotto KO's him, im thinkin it will be from body shots. Margarito could get hit by a truck in the head and keep comin. If Margarito KO's Cotto, it will just be by overwhelming him with punches through several rounds. Im gonna say Cotto by decision. But both fighters will be braindead afterwards lol

i'm sorry i've converted to UFC  :-\ i'm not up on the boxing jones' anymore.

It's not that difficult to be fans of both.  IMO, Boxing is completely different to MMA.  It's almost like being a fan of American Football and Football, alot of people can manage liking both sports.

If the fierce Margarito shows up, it's gonna be almost impossible for Cotto to win.  I really think it's a toss up though, I can't wait to see it

WHAT A FIGHT ! Miguel Cotto outboxed a plodding Antonio Margarito early
but Margarito got stronger as the fight wore on
and finally battered Cotto into submission at 2:05 of round eleven.
This was a classic that lived up to and even surpassed expectations.

I couldn't believe that shit!  I was like this  :o for the final two rounds of the fight.

On a side note, this was a great fight to bet on.  Margarito was too much of an underdog in the LV odds.  He was at +195 to +205 around there.
