Indy 4 - SPOILERS!!!!!

My thoughts:

As soon as the film started I was so excited, yes I made the 12 o clock showing, how magical. The credits came on and I thought, great, this had an Indy feel and it looks good aswell, superb. As the film progressed I gradually began to go through a range of emoitons.

At first Kate Blachetts character I was happy with. She played the bitch very well but there just wasnt enough of her in the film. Alot more was focused upon Ray Winstone who again plaed his part superbly. I just think with her being the 'villian' she needed to be seen alot more.

Shia is fast becoming one of my favourite actors, he was spot on here. Playing the cool hip street leather jacket wearing tought guy rocker. The scene in the restaurant was great for a few laughs, he wets his comb with someones coke and runs it through his hair, marvellous. Then the motorbike chase, WOW, the motor bike chase. This is what Indiana Jones is all about, the camera zooming up close to the tires as they screech through the streets, amazing. Had me thinking of the tank chase in the other Indy film. Fantastic.

However, the story for me was there at the beginning, but it seemed to get lost at some point during the film, I cant quite put my finger on were it went wrong. And its weird cos David Keopp usually doesn't let his action scripts slip from start to finish, War of the Worlds, Jurrassic Park to name two examples, but this film definetly did. It went from being an adventure to find put back an artefact, to a sci-fi horror in a matter of minutes, it was strange because I was sat ther determined not to hate what I was watching because after all it was Indiana Jones 4. But, there was part of me that thought 'what the hell is going on here, have they out another movie on or something?' It was very strange.

As for the special effects we all know that Indy's have used the best stunt people and effects in the past to give us what we were looking for and the scene in the warehouse at the start was great, had me smiling and willing Indy to kill them fools, ha. And thechase through the jungle was great .... until a certain point. Which leads me onto my next downfall. Why did CG get a big role to play in this film? It ruined alot of fun scenes for me with its over the top ness.

Now, I enjoyed Mutt flying through the jungle like Tarzan, even thought I think we should of learnt before hand that Mutt loves Tarzan films or something like that or is a gymnast or something or other. Just to make it abit more believable that he could actually pull that off, but anyway, why not just use a studio, fill it with trees and as such and perform a live action, old school style, as they did with Batman and Gotham City, dont want it to look fake, screw it, build it, film it, use it, everyones happy. But nooooo clearly the green screen proves vital again and it kind of let me down. There were too many incidents like this, the fight between the cars, which again I personally thought was great, but you can just clearly tell its all computer, thats not Indiana Jones in my opinion.

All the characters in the film though were great. I loved the start when you see Indiana's shadow against the car putting his hat on, I was kind of like 'is that really him!!!!'. Everyone was great, the stunts were great and there was Indiana Jones moments. Also Professor Oxleys 'Henry... Jones ... Junior?!?' brought us some fun laughs. I am just abit annoyed because everything was there for this film to be everthing it wanted to be, a summer popcorn flick, a blockbuster, a good 4th to the previous 3, but sadly I only think 2 of them are correct.

The story start good, introduced all the characters well and kinda told us the story within the first 10 - 20 minutes. But halfway it kind of went downhill. There wasn't that much of an adventure because everything was pretty easy for Dr. Jones to decipher, he didnt need anyone else to be there with him really, they were just passengers on his train, so to speak. I think though as one of my friends said, keep it at least half believable:

Ark - Ok, yeah, you could see why the Nazi's would want this.
The stones - yeah, you could see why a tribe would want them back.
Cup of christ - you coul definetly see why the Nazi's wanted this.

But then we have,

The crystal skull - I just dont see how the soviets would want it that much. It was a tad far fetched from the start but I let it slide because I only thought it would get better, but it didnt. The skull is the head of an alien who when put back can read everyones minds and because of their vast knowledge they can expode your brain.I just thought it was sooooo over the top for an Indiana Jones film. And the ending!!!!!! The spaceship taking off. I was very annoyed about that. Everything looked ok but it was just terrible. We all know Steven loves his aliens, War of the Worlds, E.T, Close Encounters, but this is a film he really needed to leave them out of. I became so annoyed about this. It kinda brought me back to reality in the cinema and thats not what I wanted, not with this movie anyway.

The very very end is ok. Indy gets married, Mutt almosts puts his hat on signaling that if this one makes enough money, which it surly will do, they will make another with him as the lead roll, which hopefully wont involve as much C.G.I and or aliens from another universe.

Good film, could of been great.

Serious, as an normal adventure movie "Kingdom..." isn´t bad, but it´s Indiana Jones. Damn. The movie is also totally overload wih CGI. I hope they don´t make an fifth part

Yeh i was also incredibly disappointed by this aswell.. i grew up with the Indiana Jones triology being some of my favourite action/adventures films and over the last 2 weeks i had gone back and watched the previous 3 to gear me up for this but damn that was a big mistake.. cos it left me even more disappointed my Indy 4..

I wanted a new Indiana Jones adventure and thats what i got. I was pretty with it except the few cheesy scenes like the kid swinging from jungle and a few others. overall i thought it was pretty cool, definatelly the worst of the series but not bad. The whole thing with aliens and ufos was mad corny

It started out great, I really liked it and was into it...but then the alien thing became too much as the movie kept going.  The 13 skeletons joining together and burning the Russians...totally whack.  The UFO...even whacker.  The marriage and the scene with the hat blowing in was good though.

As was said, the worst of the four, but I still plan on buying it when it comes out on Blu-Ray because it wasn't a bad movie, it just wasn't a great one.

This was fun. Better than I expected. Could have done without the digital monkeys helping Indy Jr. but outside of that it was fun. I even liked Indy surviving a Nuke in a fridge. I can dig it, dude is larger than life.
