Right now? I say Boston vs. New York. My generation hasn't seen the Boston vs. LA rivalry at all.

All these rivalries depend on what's hot at the moment.  Both rivalries have their amazing histories too.  Lakers vs Celtics, you have a close race for overall titles (Phil Jackson's backstory of getting 10 rings vs Red's 9. .  Red Sox vs Yankees, you have the infamous Babe Ruth transaction from Boston to NY that no other rivalry has.

Overall history: too close to call
Current situation: Red Sox vs Yankees.  Lakers and Celtics need to meet in the finals at least 2 times in these few years to change that.

LMFAO!! Easily Boston-NY right now,  at this current time it's not even debatable.

because more titles have been decided with LA/Boston series, I'm going with that. Both are really lop sided looking at overall history, Boston beating LA and NY beating Boston. But since the 1990's, NY/Boston is WAY better than LA/Boston.

NY/Boston... not even close.....  one team could suck and whenever they play the series is shoved down our throats.

in the 80s, LA-Boston...the rivalry fell off, though. If the Lakers meet Boston in the Finals this year, it'll go right back to greatest rivalry status.

Lets also not forget that the Celtic-Laker series' were pretty balanced and that the Red Sox-Yankee series' mainly favored NY. Not as many titles have been decided in a NY-Boston series.

Who did you pick, Jake?

i said NY/Boston was filled with more hatred and animosity, and like tom said even if one team is sorry that year the series is hyped to hell. also watching tv you still see construction workers hiding jersey's, the yankeez banning david ortiz from doing the babe ruth point, ect.  but my whole point with my argument with my friend is that OVERALL the NY boston rivalry is the most consistent and heated rivalry, but when the lakers and celtics were at full rivalry it was just as potent. But since ny/boston was more consistent over the years i went with that, and he flipped his lid.
