Also, the referee sucked. Italy scores a regular goal -> offside given. Toni almost scores a goal from an offside position -> no offside given. Toni runs towards the Romanian keeper, no offside position -> offside given. Buffon saved the team's asses in this one...

Props to the Romanians though, just like I thought, they're far from as bad as people were trying to make them. Although their best player was Zambrotta.

Anyway...................... Italy scored a regular goal with Toni at the end of the first half (the refs fucked up again!) and they gave Romania an unreal penalty at the end (thank God Buffon saved it). No love from the refs.

That shit was funny as fuck. Even though I watched the game closely, I missed the goal when it happened, as I was to glance at my nigga who was walking in with some food, and that goal was just ridiculously unexpected. I was like "Goal, wtf?", then I saw the replay and laughed my ass off.

The game was actually quite funny though. As much as I'd hate to see Italy get kicked out, I actually laughed at this moronic goal myself. I mean, they're still doing slow-mo on some unimportant foul and suddenly Zambrotta makes it 0-1...still, the ref sucked ass and it would have been 1-0 Italy before half time, that's a simple fact.

The Romanian penalty was not necessary, I disagree with that decision too, although I admit I'm not quite sure. Well, it didn't change anything in the end.

Anyways, seriously, and I'm not only talking about this game at all, the refereeing in this tournament is subpar...this Italian goal is one thing, but there are a lot more; Switzerland not getting a penalty against the Czechs; Spain scoring an offside goal; the Italians not getting a penalty against the Dutch; Poland scoring an offside goal; the Austrians not getting a penalty against Poland in a totally obvious situation and then getting that strange one.....................................

But no hard feelings, I don't take this stuff all that seriously. This is kinda interesting, actually, I never felt there was too much of a rivalry between Italy and Portugal. France yes, Germany of course, but Portugal?? I'm pretty comfortable supporting both teams anyways. But how do Canadians care about soccer? They suck at it...or are you like a Portuguese living in Canada or something?

As for the penalty, I do agree, but it's similar to the Austrian one yesterday: If you gave a penalty every time this happens, there'd be at least 5 penalties in every game. This is why I think it's random. I wouldn't mind if they just started consistently giving penalties in those situations, so the jersey-holding bullshit would become less fashionable. But the reason the referee sucked is the happy-go-lucky style of making offside decisions. In that department, he and his assistants did fuck up, and not just in the case of the first-half goal

we're a nation full of multiculturalism. people here LOVE soccer. not as popular as hockey...but is up there with Football, Baseball and basketball. You should've saw our downtown streets when Italy won the world cup...IT WAS PACKED with italians, they had to close the streets. Hell we hosted the U21 World CUP and broke all attendance records. We know Canada sucks at soccer...but people here are passionate about soccer and their home teams. I mean...where else in the world do you find more visiting country supporters than home? (Not including when Mexico plays the US LOL)
