Mixtape albums comin' out while full albums gettin' delayed

Man these mixtape albums are coming out like wildfire while game cube and others are being pushed back!!!! What's the purpose of pushing shit back! They all know we need that shit! I don't wanna bump lil weezy (disappointment) in my ride I have to piece together compilations of trax of west coast artist just to get by! Jimmy needs to get pimp slapped and stop holden shit back before mufukkas start boycottin'!!!!

The game is changing. Everyone is going independent. The Eagles exclusive with Walmart. Prince, NIN, etc. ditching the corporations. Yaboy does well with mixtapes. At this point I am not sure he even needs a "deal" like in the old days. Just find distribution and do a one-album deal. It won't be long before you can't even go to a wrecka store and buy an "album" and this is coming from an old-timer who will miss that a lot.

Majors. Mixtapes and street albums there is not the overhead and legalities you have on a major. You drop when you want when you do a mixtape/street album. I got to commend Bishop Lamont because he ain't getting himself caught up on waiting for a release date only to have it change. He is dropping material. Cube I think just wants to have more time to promote the album.

Honestly looking at LNCL and the approach for this one, it is alot different. For Raw Footage it has been all internet/myspace. With LNCL he did a promo tour, had a successful single out on BET and other outlets, made appearances on Jimmy Kimmel and a few other places, was on tour, etc. So whether he did it for sales or not, the presentation was much better. He made a point to let you know when LNCL was dropping and it dropped on that date. This one I have no idea when it is dropping. I know I will buy 3 copies when it drops, but other then that I have no idea.

Bottom line, the artists themselves are their best promoter. And especially here and with the radio show popping, more and more artists are taking it on themselves to promote and put projects out they want to do. Whether it is for sales or not. If you are waiting on a label to do that for you, you will never drop properly unless you Dre or somebody big like that to the point it does not matter. As far as Cube, I think he cares that he puts his album in a marketing and promotional standpoint that it is done properly. That is just smart business. Even if you don't care about sales, your fans can't buy something they don't know is out. Now like I said earlier, if he promotes it well, he will probably stand back and see how it does.

so this argument is not valid for Cube, as he has done some promotion already.

^but internet promotion is VERY different and on a lesser scale than having a bet/mtv video out (i think he'll have 1, but he doesnt as of yet) the promo run, he had the black/white show out, the tv show appearances and so on.

i know, that's why i think D~Nice' assumption made sense; Cube's trying to sell as much as possible.
